There's also the Nick, a player who creates such a beautiful and intricate network of agreements and plans within plans with each other country that he inevitably gets tangled up within his own machinations, shoots a hole in his global reputation, and gets units stuck in unfortunate positions.

The ambassador, rarely found in his own country. He has detailed deals with each country which overlap so deftly that he directs the game like a play. The downside is that this player might end up having anyone or none as an ally.

The Djinn, fulfills all his promises and always keeps his word, but you still allways end up regretting the deal.

The Pax Builder/Bismark: a player who deeply understands that in a game of seven players, you want to be one of the four. They will form strong friendships and logistical agreements with three other players that extends beyond personal alliances, framed instead as an informal alliance of self-interest against the other three, creating a strong in group, and forcing the out group to either team up into their own weaker alliance that can be pointed to as a threat, or remain divided. The Bismark will be generous to their allies of the moment, and seek to support the "common good" of their established group... but are more than willing on a moments notice to drop an ally from the group if they get too powerful or compromise the Bismark's own objectives, replacing them with one of the previously isolated players who will be more than happy to "let in."
Sort of a mix of your Piggybacker and Despot.

I think a fitting 8th style to mirror the Jannissary is the Thrower/Vindicator who gets stabbed then self destructs into the face of their former ally just to spite them

Playstyles:

The Hideaway/The Apath
- Lock down
- Under the radar
- Avoids conflict
- Support every turn

The Ghost/The Spotlighter
- Puts others before their own
- Not a lot of confidence
- Support and lets allies take centers
- "Submit" to the allies will

The Sniper/The Vulture
- Allies do heavylifting
- Slowly works outward
- Refuses the gamble
- Frustrating to deal with

The Soldier/The Rider
- Teams up with leaders
- They follow the meta (unless it's convenient otherwise)
- Generous when they get something in return

The Formidable Boss
- "Do what they say or else" type
- Leverages others
- Keeps parties close
- Can vary (a LOT)

The Chip n' Chair/The Desperado
(This was talked about previously)

The Blitzkrieg/The Octane
- Pushes to claim territory
- Brave & willing to take risks
- Easily the MOST offensive
- Might get eliminated early

I play a variant of the despot where I only threaten people. It’s fun to play the villain :)

No. 5 the Boss doesn't deserve a 2 in Likeability. They wouldn't be successful if they weren't likeable to some degree. I rate a The Boss' likeability at 5 because u can go either way with them as mentioned: working together with their plan & they're great, don't work with their plan and they're not great.
Plus their likeability/unlikeability can depend on their charm charisma.
Just my 2 cents

I have no clue what play style I am, as I often try to be the boss and fail, so the fake boss?

Great vid as always! I really liked the idea of the positive and negative name for each category.

I could hardly get anyone to play but they sure as hell cheated at Risk when we played that. I never understood why they didn't like Diplomacy?? 👍

So what do you do against players who switches style a couple of times. :)

I wonder if these are a little more pertinent to those who aim for solo wins. To be fair, that's probably most players, but I don't neatly fit into any of these 7, and I wonder if that's because of my preference for finding an ally or two I can trust and sticking with them the whole game without naively leaving myself open to stabs.

I have a very despotic style of play and I like feeling like a megamind, manipulating things behind the scenes. Usually my tactics are mediocre but I make up for it in presswork
