love that you talked about gatekeeping the term "photographer." i'm 100% someone who geeks out on specs and technical details, i love that shit, but that's not what makes anyone a good photographer... if anything it just sets me up to be a better camera repair person. most people who learn how a thing works by doing it never seem to become as invested in telling other people they're not "real" or "good" at it

I was recently thinking about creative block and I came to the opinion, that there are three elements in photography, all equally important, which I think should be balanced, in equilibrium, and that you get creative block when you stuck on one of them. 1. shooting photos, creating (well, as photographer you got to create), 2. finding inspiration (on Instagram, in photobooks, on You Tube, listening to other photographers and talking with them), 3. reflecting your photogrpahy (why you do it, what you want to say with it...).It's easy to get stuck at scrolling Instagram frustrated that "my work is boring, I would never be that good". Forget it, go out and shoot, and you will realize again why you do it, why you enjoy it. Or just think about it more, why you do it, who do you it for, what do you want to say. Or you can get easily stuck at reflecting your work, when you overthink it too much. "Should I do this, or this? Does my work have any sense at all?" Go out and shoot. Or open a photobook, or listen to podcast, and it might give you inspiration, again. Just move to the next step.

Broooo.. I had that convo with my girlfriend before as well. I went to college and got a degree in Accounting after I switched from photography, well arts, but that doesn't mean I'm smart. We all make sacrifices and time to learn something. She's always telling me how smart i am, which is nice but, she works at a hospital... I dont know anything at all about the medical field, but she gets home and talks about a bunch of medical shit that sounds mad complicated haha. Nothing wrong with not knowing something. and just because you do know "more" about a subject than someone else doesnt mean you are smart or smarter than them.

I recommend the Busuu language app. I found it to have more common vocabulary and variety.
