AMD have done it again with the announcements of both Zen 4 and the AM5 socket! But are these actually worth considering given what we already know and expect? How will their choice to support *only* DDR5 affect buyers' habits? We've a lot to discuss!

To sum up: Wait six months to a year before you buy into AM5. Let everyone else storm the beach, clear the machine gun nests, and then go in when it's safe.

Given the long support for AM4 and the wide availability of processors and DDR4 memory right now, I don't think DDR5 only support for AM5 is an issue. You'll buy all new stuff when you're ready to upgrade to that platform, either when those prices come down or if you actually need the extra performance. I just wish they had more budget CPUs with PCIe 4.0 support to go with their budget GPU offerings this/last year.

I do like your videos! First of all You speak in pretty same level. They are also accurate. You don't afraid of speaking out if You see there's something wrong! Gretings to all of Your Family, every one. Take care and be safe! All of You!

The economy is a different game than the last two years. Many people already built new PCs a year or two ago. And, foreclosures and repos are booming. People are financially broke. The energy costs this winter will be crippling. I predict that these parts will not move nearly as quickly as expected.

I’m willing to bet that DDR4 is still supported with Raptor Lake.

Always weird that things like performance are under embargo, like are they not satisfied with their current results or what... lmao

So excited for Zen 4! I took PTO and I'm going to drive like 10 hours to Microcenter so I can get parts on launch day 😂

Right off the bat AMD is looking pretty strong again, with efficiency, power consumption and overall performance.
intel has always been pretty stellar with performance but recently they've just rushed out chips without too much regard to consumption and other variables...understandable to be honest.
I'm curious as to how intel is going to respond.

Anything about AV1 encoding?
Sounds like a no since the iGPU is RDNA2.

I am not waiting nothing from Intel, I get high end tech but I am not that stupid to buy a motherboard every year or every 2 years. 7950X for me day one.

The additional performance is far from being worth the crazy extra cost of the CPU plus Mobo plus DDR5 RAM...
While there's a market for 7900x and 7950x on unlimited budget and productivity work, one has to be stupid to get a 7600x or 7700x with the crazy prices
Anyway I won't upgrade my 5900x with this gen

My issue is the motherboards their so fkin expensive

If AMD found a way to keep the CPU prices relatively the same despite a entirely new architecture, don't know why the new Motherboards are so incredibly more expensive. Oh .. that's right.... gouging. Guess the AIB's are so used to gouging GPU cards, they have to do it to the rest.

Propably the 7600X will beat the 13600 in gaming perfomance as only the I7 an I9 will be on new arcitechture, below I5 it will be alder lake based still.
