HPI Trophy Truggy Flux - Jumps, Drifts, Speed Runs

No music or special effects, just some raw footage of the Trophy Truggy Flux in action performing jumps, donuts, drifts and straight line speed runs. If you have been thinking about getting one of these I can highly recommend. Though not the fastest 1/8th RC out there it's fast where it counts - off road. The wide track and long wheel base offer outstanding stability which gives the Trophy the advantage over 'faster' buggies, trucks or buggies on the market. You can point these things and shoot! Top speed is only 67kmh (42mph) stock on 4s, but for off road bashing that is really all you need. The instantaneous torque more than makes up for a lower top end. Hope you like the footage.

PS Make sure to REALLY TIGHTEN your wheel nuts straight out of the box!!! For some reason HPI do not do this at the factory. Same goes for the pinion gear grub screw!

Thanks for the comment. I think you will like this truggy very much. Some owners are complaining they break a lot of parts but mine has proved very strong so far.

Yeah I think these are great value for money right now and represent excellent bang for buck. Thanks for checking out the video!

Never tried 2s, it may be too much current draw I think, these things are rather power hungry. Yes that is an '83 911SC still wearing its original 7 and 8 inch Fuchs rims. Well spotted, and thanks for checking out my video!

Great vid, thanks. This has made my mind up - I'm going for the Trophy Truggy, rather than the Vorza. Looks like the Trophy is better suited for all general ripping around on all terrain.

Two different beasts really. The Trophy is 1/8th 4x4 and the Rustler 1/10 rear wheel drive. Both are fun, tough and great value. If you have a smaller area to drive in go for the Rustler. On larger, rougher terrain the Trophy is the way to go.

I have yet to break any but of course it's possible. So far, after more than 50 packs, the only parts which have "broken" are the two ball connectors that hold the front anti-roll bar in place, and the original HPI steering servo. Parts that have "worn out" include all the rear diff bevel gears (these are aluminium stock) which I replaced with the hardened steel versions for under $14. I have also just about finished off the first set of tires.

I have never thought it needed more power. In fact I have the punch mode dialed all the way down to 1 (out of 9) and it still launches like a beast. On 9 it will pull wheelies on grippy surfaces. Stock it's not as fast as a Vorza (on 6s) but I have managed 67kph on fresh batteries which is fast enough for the bashing I do. Torque is plenty good enough.

@fluxful Thanks mate, I dig those double jumps ;)

Local hobby store has been very good with parts supply. From my experience HPI is pretty well supported here in OZ. Cheers

Great vid i have the same truggy and feel the same as you, on the forums guys give this truugy a bad review, not sure how many of them have actually owned one, it has really good controllable power, and havent had reliability issues with it. This one and my savage flux are my favs!

lol thanks. The trouble with skate parks is you just want to go higher and higher until... something breaks :( The truggy walked away from all those jumps completely in tact, however the Vorza did suffer a bent centre shaft due to one bad landing.

Nice Video man, and yes i agree, 3:18 was stuff!
Quick question, Out of the box, did you have to upgrade anything before bashing? Have any parts failed since you got it, ifso what? finally where did you get it from? Thanks!

Cool vid. I like the variety of footage. I hear ya about the truggy getting a bad rap. I see it all over the forums. From the footage, looks like a cant go wrong kinda thing with the HPI Trophy Truggy.

Shit! im gonna go bash myself. Nice day outside here in Queens NY. Gonna be sunny and mid 60's...Im outa

nice vid! there are rumours that the rear hub snaps on the truggy if you push it too hard off the jumps. is this true? or would it be better to go with the trophy buggy? thanks

I think it has a lot to do with how they are driven. People think because they are HPI you can drive them into brick walls and expect them to survive, but like anything RC these will break if recklessly abused.
