Gotta love the multiple use of the carnyx, especially at "tribal fury" one of the most amazing trumpets out there!

For all the shit it got at launch (and I was one of many who pre-ordered) Rome 2 has got to be my favourite total war out there (I never really got into the original rome or medieval 2, probably since I was too young and didn't play them at launch et cetera, my first total war was Shogun 2 to get you an idea).
In my opinion it's the game that captures the epicness of the time period like no other, especially during battles! I like 3k a lot, but, it just feels BLAND compared to Rome 2 especially battle-wise: Rome 2 had soldiers cracking jokes and swearing, had swords with visible rust and dry blood and shields and armor that had sword marks and cracks, like an object who ACTUALLY SAW countless battles. The trumpets blowing when formations march, plus the amazing battle soundtrack when things get hot and messy... 3K, despite all its great features simply LACKS all of it, not to mention the complete lack of short historical context backgrounds about said technology/building/unit that every historical total war had since, context that usually makes me look this stuff up over the internet, that helps me get INTERESTED in the time period the game is set in.

"SONS OF MARS!!!" No matter how many times I hear that in the game with this music behind it it still gives me chills. This game was a disaster at launch but one thing I WILL say is that they absolutely nailed the sound design/music.
