Yes, this is the JEEP Grand Wagoneer, but you wouldn’t know by looking at it. It says Jeep almost nowhere on the exterior or interior, and we’ll cover that more as we talk exterior design and interior features, but what we have to do now is jump behind the wheel and see if the ride is fitting of the $110,000 price tag

We’re going to start where we usaully do, and that’s covering the stuff under the skin that makes up the experience you get on the road.

From the ground up you get a body on frame architecture much like you’d find in an Escalade or Navigator; this thing’s main rivals

And the other thing that you need for such a strong towing figure is a big powerful engine.

In the peasant Wagoneers you get a 5.7L hemi V8 as standard. But in this, the Grandest of Wagoneers, you get a 6.4L V8…and that sounds a little familiar, where have we seen that before…

Yeah, it’s the 392 motor and it makes 471 hp and 455 lbft of torque

And all that power goes through an 8 speed automatic that’s tuned more for smooth shifts than performance, but this thing still feels genuinely quick for how big it is, has the perfect amount of power.

0-60 in just about 6 seconds

Unfortunately having that much displacement in something that weighs over 3 tons is going to have a negative side effect and this is the miles per gallon, EPA is averaged at 15 but we couldn't get above 13. But in the Grand Wagoneers defence, it's just too much fun to put your foot down in this thing.

Yeah, the fuel economy is pretty terrible, but like what did you expect? Everyone wants a bigger SUV and bigger truck with a bigger more powerful V8

Or at least they did until these last few months when fuel costs have skyrocketed

I haven’t heard any news about this yet, but I’m certain it’s coming. I’d like to see a PHEV 4XE version with this motor…

That would be quick AND economical

But I think we’re getting side tracked, because the point of this thing isn’t to be fast or sharp or sporty. This is a 6 figure luxury barge, so how does it do the luxury thing?

The ride on this Grand Wagoneer is great

You have Quadralift air suspension on all 4 corners and it does a fantastic job of floating over the road.

Small and medium bumps you hardly even feel, and then big bumps it handles in a very German way where you get one thunk and then it’s over. No wallowing about after the bump is done

It’s a very good ride, not quite S-Class level, but the fact our minds even go to that comparison should tell you something.

So it does the Grand part pretty well so far, but what about the “Jeep” part?

Only says Jeep in 2 places (under side mirrors and on windshield)
Grand wagoneer has script in the grille, wagoneer has it on the hood
Nice aggressive front end
Recovery hooks
Headlight sequence when unlocking (audi)
Side profile is boxy for max space (look funny at rear)
Obsidian blacks out everything
22 inch wheels4
Retracting running boards
Air ride Quadralift (low and high)
Rear end is simple
Crazy glass tempering to reflect UV rays and keep people from seeing in
Near license plate weird pattern
Big truck dual exhaust

It feels very expensive in here
The design is very elegant to me, the way they work in leathers and materials and lights
It’s largely dominated by screens
8 including mirror
72 inches in total
Cluster digital
Too much customizability to cover
1 infotainment screen
Running latest uConnect system (it’s good, wireless Car Play)
1 HVAC screen
Seem to have a weird film over it (looks different)
Passenger screen
Can use cameras, look at passengers, watch Netflix, set Nav and send to driver. This is where we can watch some inspiration throttle house
2 rear entertainment screens
Fire stick enabled so can watch Netflix or whatever, can mirror phone with HDMI
Can play xBox or whatever too
1 rear HVAC screen
Autopilot system is very good (won’t change lane for you, but good)
HUD is great
Don’t love the touch buttons for heated seat (like no feedback)
Heated, cooled, massage seats
Pedals can move forward or back
Cameras are great
Cupholders are too small
Smart phone holders
Hidden charging
Ice box gets seriously cold
McIntosh sound
Night vision

I enjoyed seeing how it handled off road

Gesture control could be useful if the screen were considered too far away for normal touch use

Wow, that’s saying something that you’d rather drive this than the GLS. Wish it looked as good. Feel a bit like GM is being left behind here….

Economical option is now available for order... On both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer and standard on the newly revealed Long wheelbase L variants. 3.0L Inline 6 twin turbo. Gets 2 better mpg combined in the low output variant and 1mpg better in high output variant.

Can you opt out of the air suspension. They cost so much to fix when they break
