"I observed for as long as I could. The leaders have been assassinated. Communities flooded with drugs and weapons." The way he acted that out was amazing.

T'challa didn't want to admit it, but he knew his father made a mistake and you can see it on Chadwick's face. Man, what a great scene.

Man the way he delivered that line "I am your King now" was powerful and amazing

This makes Erik's rise more impressive than I realized. The guy saw his own dad die in front of him and his mom was in prison. He didn't fall into a life of crime or simply wallow in depression. He turned that anger into drive and sharpened his mind and body to become a prodigy in the military. That's the kind of focus that in other stories might even create a superhero, like Batman.

The saddest shot in the movie is young Erik holding his father's body

Apparently when T'Chaka said "Victory at the cost of the innocent is no victory at all" he was thinking of N'Jadaka.

“We left him” 😰 Heartbreaking
The only thing worse than abandoning a child is killing one

it's messed up how T'Chaka didn't bring his brother's body back to Wakanda for a proper burial. instead he just left him there for Erik to find. :(

I was surprised this film made me cry. The exchange "And the child?"
left him"
Imagine how that child his father, murdered, by the people his father said lived in his homeland of paradise? And left there to fend on his wonder he feels the way he does, and how sad because his father is right...he is lost.

The casting for T'Challa and T'Chaka was perfect. They really look like father and son more than any film I've seen that's tried to tell a story like this.

It’s more impactful to realize this was LA in 1993. Which means “the hatred he saw there” was the 1992 riots. A terrible thing to see. Knowing an entire city was consumed by racial indifference and injustice, but being told to only “observe.”

Chadwick’s acting is so great. He really shows his emotions in this movie.

Rest In Peace Black Panther 🕊

Black Panther (2018) director Ryan Coogler revealed on the commentary that Killmonger's mother was in prison and in fact, died there, hence why he was an orphan. Furthermore, the plan N'Jobu and Zuri were going over before T'Chaka's visit at the beginning of the film was a plan to spring Killmonger's mom out of prison.

I think the reason why this movie is so powerful to black people, aside from black panther being the main hero is that the bad guys are well written. N'Jobu points out the social injustice faced by the black community but the audience knows that his plans aren't the right way to solve the problem

Ya probably didn’t know this. The actor who plays Adult T’Chaka is the father of the actor who plays young T’Chaka in real life

RIP Chadwick Boseman. The Black Panther, I am very sad but also relieved because in my culture death is not the end.

*“I AM YOUR KING NOW!”*
That hits different a year after Chadwick’s death.
