Most of us have seen the famous Patterson-Gimlin film, that shows an alleged Bigfoot trudging across a hillside. But have you heard of the Sierra Sounds? Pretty interesting!

Another @pbsstoried short from your friends at Monstrum!

I propose that the plural of Sasquatch be termed a hoax, as in "My phone fell out of my pocket and cracked the camera lens as I rushed to capture the passing hoax of Sasquatches."

Alternatively, you could call it a squad, but not a squad of Sasquatches. No, no; rather, a Sasquatch squad!

It's a misattributed sound, doesn't have to be a hoax to not be a thing that doesn't exist

The Sierra sounds are legit. As someone who's been searching for the paranormal for nearly 30 years I've heard all sorts of weird sounds in the woods. I grew up on a cattle farm and some of the things I experienced would cause most people to turn white and have a brown pants moment

I don't expect to be believed, nor do I wish to "convert" anyone either. But I will never forget my encounter in Colorado when I was a boy. Broad daylight, about thirty feet away on a quiet hiking trail for a short time. But It felt like forever. I don't know how or why, but they are real. And my encounter left me with PTSD. It was no hoax, hallucination or bear. Though when I first heard the rustling, I thought brown bear or cougar.

And a body of consistent behavior has been documented by various groups studying them over the last 40 or so years. And now some linguists and more scientists are getting interested due to the very great ape-sounds recorded in North America and throughout much of the world. There is a lot of consistency in them.

I wish this phenomenon was taken more seriously by science. But I'm glad you're touching on that, Dr. Zarka! 🙂

The researchers had probably never heard a beat boxer. Some of them can make some extraordinary sounds.

Apparently there's a Sasquatch near me. Every year there's a Sasquatch watch.

There is more to the Sierra sounds than that. They are free on youtube to listen.
