Welcome back everybody, today's video is a continuation of a series in which I am taking an individual look at some of the biggest free agency situations around the NBA this offseason, and today's topic is Kyrie Irving. I cover the pros and cons of the 4 main destinations for Kyrie in free agency - the LA Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics.

As a Celtics fan it won’t bother me very much if he leaves but I’d like him to stay in Boston. We’ll see soon

How about a sign and trade between Brooklyn and Boston where Kyrie goes to the Nets and D-Lo goes to Boston, and maybe add some young assets/ draft picks

Summary: Kyrie can't lead a team and he absolutely needs a KD LeBron or Kawhi type player to thrive and win a chip

Said you’d talk about the backcourt issue with DLo and Kylie but never got back to it 😅

The Nets are SO much better of an option for both Kyrie and KD than the Knicks. They can clear the same amount of space, and still have a good roster to put around those two. Second, the whole organization is run much better top to bottom. They'd literally be swapping out Russell for Kyrie from a team that just made the playoffs, plus adding Durant.

If Kawhi re-signs with the Raptors, don’t count them out of being able to recruit another big-name free agent to play with him, especially if they win the championship.

If Kyrie heads to Brooklyn D'Angelo won't stick around ...D'Angelo has proven that this Nets team is his and I'll be surprised that Irving and Durant would come there to run their kind of game....
Not being a hater but it's not a smart thing by the Nets

I believed the Celts could make it to the ECF or the Finals if they solved their problems mainly their chemistry and that they were too stacked

It's 50/50 for boston.. if he leaves it's all right and if he stays it's all good too

I agree with most of yr analysis, except the pt about having the best basketball situation for Kyrie. Kyrie is not necessary looking for the best basktball situation, as he's looking to up his "brand" value also. NY, Brooklyn & LA are all better places than Boston to do this. Ainge will be very wary of how Kyrie can destroy chemistry again whenever he felt like not playing team ball & D (he was playing the right way in last 15 games of reg season & up to G1 of Bucks series but suddenly just game up from G2-5). Clearly his over dribbling & ball holding PnR playing style & weak D does NOT fit Stevens' schemes & system, & even fans can see that.

Another pt is, Kyrie is not consider young anymore & with knee issues. He also demonstrated that he can be toxic & is unwilling to follow Stevens' schemes, as it has to be Kyrie's ways. Most teams might think twice of offering him a max contract for 5 yrs & run the risks of being tied down in cap space & hijacked by Kyrie, esp if their goal is not just to sell merchandise & tickets, but also to win a championship.

My guess is, unless he opts in for final yr to play safe, he'll opt out & go to big mkts to build his own brand, whether the team has realistic chances to win a championship or not. Remember, he rarely if ever said playing for Celtics is to do whatever it takes to win a championship. He's all in to build his own brand.

To me Kyrie should just go back to the Celtics. If he signs with the Lakers, they're gonna have some issues with the backcourt especially with Lonzo is already a 1 guard and not being a shooter unless they put Kyrie at the 2 but that's not much of a help in defense (Relegate Lonzo to the bench if Kyrie signs?) The Knicks are obviously not competing anytime soon. The Nets need a forward right now, not a guard (Unless Dlo leaves) The Clippers is the best option outside of Boston but that would mean moving some of their guards (Which were all helpful in the regular and post season) I know Boston was a mess, but it can be remedied by moving some pieces (Like Marcus Morris or Gordon Hayward) All that said, his options are vast but coming back is more sensible to me
