What's New in 'Age of Hannibal' Second Edition?

As a direct result of our Pyrrhic War campaign in the club, we revisited "Age of Hannibal" to codify some of our favorite updates over the years. Those revisions are now available in a brand new second edition of the rules. Today, Greg and Chal preview the biggest changes and tease some of the new twists that improve the gameplay.

Age of Hannibal is fast-play miniature tabletop game for the great battles of antiquity, from the Greco-Persian wars all the way to the fall of Rome. The rules are available on our website in print and PDF formats, along with our original scenario book for all three Punic Wars. The Pyrrhic War supplement--including our campaign rules as seen on YouTube--is 100% FREE on the website for you to download as a PDF, courtesy of the gang here at Little Wars TV. And remember, if you own the original first edition of the game, you can find a summary of all updates and a new QRS for free on the website, as well. That summary makes all first edition books fully compatible and playable with the new second edition. Planned obsolescence is a marketing strategy that places profit before fans. Really appreciate you producing rules written by players for players. I will be hoping to pick up a paper copy somewhere in the UK.

I have not played Age of Hannibal, but I've been saving up for a 3D printer lately, and I'm getting back into the Late Republic, AoH II may be the perfect excuse to print a bunch of First Century BC Romans for some civil wars.

A nitpick on a comment: the d8 itself doesn't reduce randomness, it increases the potency of modifiers (which would increase likelihood of success if you have the same modifiers compared to when you had d10).
