APPLICATIONAL QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
1) What are areas in my life that are more aligned with who my culture says that I am, versus who God says that I am?
2) What areas in my life can I do better to live as the new creation that God has made me to be?
3) What do you think is Paul’s main message to the Ephesians in this book?

Good stuff! Problem in exegesis always arises when preachers have to make a personal application from what the author wrote to the church as a whole. The application is for the church more than me. It's not that I have an identity as an Ephesian-- which is true-- but, that we as a church are unified. Both are important, but that's not what Paul is mainly writing about. Paul is preaching that the church would find its unity in the same way Jesus, the Father and Holy Spirit find theirs'. Which, is more implicitly stated beginning in chapter 1 ending in chapter 5. It is also helpful to read Eph. alongside the letter to the Church at Ephesus in Revelation. There, we definitely see the importance of identity in Christ.

The Ephesians were afraid and constantly trying to please false gods in fear of punishment and in hopes of reward based on what they do. This is a textbook definition of the 5th main world religion, animism. Animism has much mystisisum and belief in spirits and superstitions and belief in reincarnation. But we do not need to fear as slaves messing up or straining to perfectly please God, because Jesus did it all for us, we are perfectly acceptable to God through Him and Him alone.

Its is claimed that the apostles linked 'God the Father' & 'The Lord Jesus Christ' as if they were presenting the two as ONE! Just the epistle to the Ephesians proves this a 'twisting' of scripture! Starting with Paul's intro 1:3 "Blessed be the GOD AND FATHER OF the Lord Jesus Christ". Then 1:17 "That the GOD OF our Lord Jesus Christ". Then 2:16 "(Christ) Reconciled us TO GOD". Then 3:9; "God who created all things THROUGH Christ". Then 3:14 "I bow my knees unto THE FATHER OF our Lord Jesus Christ". Then 4:6 "9There is ONE GOD AND FATHER of all, who is ABOVE ALL..". 5:2 "(Christ) hath loved us and hath given himself for us as an offering and a SACRIFICE TO GOD". 5:20; "Giving thanks always for ALL THINGS UNTO GOD THE FATHER in the name of Jesus Christ". The FATHER is Supreme!

While some of the historical reconstruction might be accurate here, it's really concerning that the theme of the church (which is central to the book AND Paul's concept of our identity in Christ) is completely absent from this video. Not only that, the boy is pictured alone, adding to the effect that Paul's primary concern was with how people viewed themselves individually. This cannot be supported by even a cursory reading of the book itself.

I've been in Ephesians for over a year now. It is a book of majesty and great truths and Paul did a jam-up job proclaiming the glory of God in it. But to get the historical side like this video showed, especially about how "spiritual" the Ephesians were about the darkness and their past lives, shines a whole new light on why Paul wrote what he wrote in Ephesians.👍

Hello,
No i don't want to be the best version of myself, i don't want self to be at its best. I want God's perfect self to express himself in me. i'm not looking for ways to improve self but to change self completely and only God can change us. self must die so God can live.

Why don't you share the following with TED WILSON, MARK FINLEY and the GC sabbath school is 155 verses long. MOST SDA sabbath school class teachers & members will not even read all 155 verses over the 13 weeks in class. It takes just 12 verses each sabbath. The classes will just discuss and argue over the lesson and topics, LIKE USUAL!! Most churchgoers, including SDA, have never read the whole bible or even the whole new testament ONCE!
