I’m with you here on the renting. Really no point in having excess unused gear. On the path myself towards simplicity. If it’s not paid work, use what I have and lean in

No GAS here folks. Well said Dee. I'm with you on the lens side too. Having reviewed my images over time I found I was shooting around 40MM more than 80 percent of the time. I use a Canon generally. My 2014 Fujifilm (small kit) gets me back to the basics, when I just want to play, change things up, or want to experiment. Call it my guilty pleasure, weekend sports car. Otherwise I keep everything as simple as possible. It is way too easy to fall into acquiring gear unnecessarily. Media and the gear companies want to sell, sell, sell. Cheers.

Really good advice. I started selling off some of my gear that I was not using. Love the renting concept and recently rented a lens. Thanks for sharing this.

You simplified the channel name too? 🙂 Staying simple is easier when you don't have the budget to splurge! I really only have three main lenses and a couple "vintage lenses" that I got very cheaply($35.00 at most) and use for manual focus fun. I would still like one longer reach lens for sports and wildlife, but not in a rush to spend that kind of money. I would love to find an FD 24mm or wider lens, but the videographers have driven the prices of those things beyond my threshold. Have a great weekend Dee!!

Before I bought my camera and lenses I rented and compared my choices and made an honest personal assessment of what I valued about its features. I enjoy your channel but it’s focused to Pros so as a non professional I take some of your topics with a grain of salt.

You got an RF645 too?! How are you liking it so far? Whats the condition of your winder? I've had my winder break either twice or three times and I've sent them to the same repair place that has stated outright that they will work on the RF's. It comes back working like a charm each time, but it is a remedy, not a pure fix. After the second time it was sent in I, stupidly, bought a second copy and this one was broken in every way besides the winder (just my luck). Sent it in to the same place and it was far simpler to fix so I got that ones back first. Since getting the second copy back, it has been my work horse 645 camera ever since. I love both of my copy's and all of the lenses (even the 135) are stupendous. I do agree overall with the video about cutting down on gear and only having whats needed for a constant workflow, but for me personally, I'm willing to take a small L desk space wise to keep all 4 of the zenzanon-rf's. I have thought about selling my first copy, but I'm not sure if I can in good conscience sell it for that much money knowing that the winder is a ticking time bomb.
