If you're at home with this thing, you can use it as a console by plugging it into your hdtv through the hdmi port on the back side and play your games in hd at 54" if you prefer.

The device was not running BF3, the computer was running it and sending the images to the controller via wi-fi. And the controller sent the signals of the buttons, etc. to the computer.

The project shield is coming out with its own games, what really interest people is that you can actually stream your PC games onto the project shield, which is really spectacular because your playing your PC game with the latest graphics processing unit that's out onto a handheld gaming device (Nvidia Project Shield) that has a tegra 4 Mobile Processor in it which is amazing. The games on the project shield are going to be awesome to instead of the Vita with the games already dried out.

IGN videos on mobile gaming:
at the nokia / handheld hybrid: "is this the furute of mobile gaming?"
at ipod touch release: "Is this ipod the future of mobile gaming?"
at vita release: "is this vita the future of mobile gaming?"
3DS...
iphone ...
ipad...
galaxy note...
Razor Switchblade...
google tablet...

I don't think you realy know what the future of mobile gaming is going to be like.

@Hamza.... you have know idea what you're talking about.... first and foremost the Shield plays games natively directly from itself and if you have the right set up at home...you can then stream your games from your computer...
It seems like a lot of people are actually confused with what the Shield can actually

I think this qualifies in handheld gaming (PSP, 3DS, PS Vita) more than mobile (iPhone, Android).
I hope that they improve on its design and form factor.

please keep in mind that this is a prototype is not the final design of the product, so lot of thing can change

You can stream games from your pc like BF3, Skyrim and FC3. It also runs ansroid which means you can play NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PS1, Dreamcast and GC on emulators.

I think this can be the device to finally convert the DS/PSP holdouts, or at least some of them.

the shield can run bt3(its more powerful), it has a bigger better screen than the vita, it has better controls than a vita, you can stream games no going or ordering games from a store, and it has kick ass sound/speakers, you can hook it up to your tv its basically a portable console ! the shield is just that bit better in every way but remember this is being released way after the vita get ready for psp vita 2 in 2013/14

just for the streaming out to tv (gaming and movies) and remote play options (pc gaming and steam) i'm in, cost will be a factor though, nvidia are a little like apple in some ways, you can expect high build quality, with great tech, but as a result it wont be cheap

That's just your graphics card. It's like saying if you get a different processor, you won't be able to play those games, because the game downloaded for your older processor. That's not how it works. It was based the system software, or your operating system.

If the feature you're talking about is playing the same games on your PC, on this device, then I'm sure that would work fine. Just open your account on the device. This of course is an educated guess.

Yep, it says so at about 2:12 unfortunately. Still, hopefully there's a program that allows you to use it with other PCs.

How about a controller like machine that you can put just about any phone on, attach it and it would give it instant hardware boost so you can play games as you wish?

Any new idea can start a new trend. I always welcome a new device that tries something different.

This handheld seems like a good idea for a different time period. If priced right, and if it has quality apps, and games it would do well. But I think the timing to introduce a new handheld is off. The market is already saturated in new games. I say let this generation of handhelds pass, and see what future mobile gaming will bring.

I think this device is cool, but if the screen could be able to be taken out, as a normal android device, with touch-screen technology too, it could be a huge advantage.. it's just my extra idea.

Heres a few things that I suggest they do if they wanna make money.
1. Wifi
2. Steam
3. Headset
4. Bigger screen
annnnd that should do it

I see it has a HDMI port. It would be cool to plug it into the TV and play PC games on a big screen TV if you computer isn't near a TV.
