I knew something was wrong when I was in my barre class. I was on my stomach putting my arms and legs up with my core to the matt, and I felt a weird bubble in my stomach. This wasn’t something I used to feel. At first, I thought I needed to use the restroom, but it happened every time. And then a week or two later, I started to feel my lower abdomen get hard in the center. A week later, it got bigger. I also had pelvic pains, but I thought it was due to UTI. And like Dr. Amy said, I had gained about 5 pounds and I couldn’t lose it. I ended up going to the doctor, gynecologist, oncologist, surgery, and chemo. Just finished my 3rd cycle. Half way done.

I’m a 17 year stage 3c ovarian cancer survivor. Chemo (6 taxol + cisplatin rounds). 31 rounds of radiation (what can I say it was a weird OC). “Typical” symptoms given I had a history of endometriosis. That said, I still get CA-125 testing done at least every six months. For awhile, we had the HE-4 test, but they decided it wasn’t a good test. Why I’m writing it this: twice a year for the last three years I have Natera’s Signatera testing done. It looks for the cancer’s DNA profile, from analyzing my tumor, in my blood. It’s not a perfect test. But between the two tests, I’m feel quite proactive. Regardless of what cancer type you’ve had, please consider asking your doctor for this test. One more thing: at least every other year, ask your doctor to do a trans vaginal ultrasound. With breast cancer, we have mammography. This ultrasound at least looks a bit more closely and if OC can be caught early, it’s better. Here’s to everyone’s good health!

Wow! Thank you. I have been diagnosed with the same cancer type you had, stage 3B. I have already been operated on and my recovery is going well. On Monday I begin my chemo sessions (I'm going to have 6 - 1 every 21 days). There are many questions that I have and my doctors cannot answer all of them. But I was very lucky to find your videos, Dr. Amy, and, without even knowing it, you were able to answer most of my questions. For all that, that is your selfishless effort and time spending to the benefit of others, I thank you a million 'thank yous'. I wish our disease never come back to us or any person who battles it. Congratulations on your good work! ❤

I have all the symptoms, the biggest one for me is a distended belly like I am pregnant 9 months. The tightening and dull pain of a stretching belly constantly is my main symptom as well as the reflux at times. I have every symptom described in this video including weight gain, which I believe is water retention. I am waiting on my referral for a CT scan recommended to me by a retired doctor. One of the things I notice too the most is the complete exhaustion all the time, lacking energy to do anything. Also, walking across a room too fast makes me out of breath.

Good info. I like the fact that you got straight to the point without adding extra introduction.Dr. Amy thank you.

This was basically my story as well (with a slightly different cancer - high grade serous endometrial cancer, 1A). It was weird hiccups high in my chest plus a gut issue that wouldn’t settle down that made me feel “something is not right”. I had a little spotting too but thought it was hemorrhoids. The weird hiccups turned out to be premature ventricular contractions, likely triggered by my increased abdominal pressure. Like you I had surgery which was a relatively easy recovery. I did 6 rounds of chemo and added to that a fasting mimicking diet with each chemo (so no fatigue, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea) so also am recovering faster after chemo than the average person (maybe because I didn’t get so depleted in the first place, but also worked hard between chemos to rebuild any lost muscle). I found the emotional crash with the fear of recurrence to be the worst part so far, partly because there’s no end date. My challenge now is being almost TOO aware of and then freaked out by any symptoms, almost like I’ve got PTSD. If it wasn’t for YouTube and channels like yours, I might have thought I was crazy. My clinic didn’t warn me about hardly any of the emotional games a brain can play on you through this journey. It’s quite the roller coaster.

Yes! We have to advocate for ourselves! Don’t back down when your doctor tried to dismiss you. Just because “it’s the way it’s always been done is the way we should continue to do it” in terms of being vigilant in following up.

Thank you for all your great informative videos. You are helping so many. Even though I haven't had cancer, I am learning a lot about nutrition, exercise, and other factors that can influence health. I had all the symptoms you mentioned several years ago which turned out to be a 4 cm ovarian cyst. Fortunately, it was benign and went away on its own. Great advice to always get things checked out when you don't feel quite right. It could be cancer, but there are many other issues that could cause the same symptoms including a benign cyst. Many blessings to you for a long healthy, happy life.

I don’t mind the video but you took too long to get to the actual point of how the symptoms started 🤔🤔

Excessive heartburn! I wonder why. I was getting ready to stop listening but I made it. Now let me go call the doctor for an appointment.

Came across your video and want to say thank you for sharing your experiences. I recently had a cyst removed from my left ovary and since that surgery have suffered with heart burn. It's crazy to think heart burn and our ovaries are connected but after hearing you share this on your video I can only suspect my heart burn is a associated with the ovarian cyst removal.

Thankyou so much for sharing. I am going to see my Dr today after watching this and having had pelvic pain for a month and not having answers 🙏

There are women who go from doctor to doctor and was told it was all in their head! It could take a woman years (If she is still alive) to find a specialist to take her seriously to dig deep in her medical history and do the necessary test for an accurate diagnosis.

I’m 29 and this is exactly what my doctor did for me, I’m so glad I have her. I have had AML for the past two years and I went into remission this January and quick thinking on my doctors not only caught it right off the bat, but I’ll be fine post my surgery on 14th June.

Thank you for your video. I too was diagnosed with stage 2B Clear Cell Carcinoma ovarian cancer last February. I did chemo, although my cancer does not respond to it. Radiation worked - for now. Chances are it returns according to my Dr. Although, I have more faith in Jesus Christ.
God Bless you and heal you.

My sister went to Dr today bc of painful spasms she has been having in area of sternum, which she thinks may be esophageal spasms or related to GERD. The spasms have gotten progressively worse over last several months to where the spasms are waking her up at night and preventing her from working. CT scan showed a 5-cm mass on ovary. She's making appointment with OBGYN.

My ovarian cancer was found because of a car accident and my dr ran a ca125 it was 28 then so he sent me for a ultrasound and they ran a he4 it was 78 so my gynecologist oncologist ran a one more test and it was normal! Even with the ultrasound and all the scans in the er they missed my tumor in my uterus, cervix and my other ovary! And had two types of cancer!

And my sister has just been diagnosed with the same cancer as me! I had my port put in yesterday and she has her hysterectomy next week, same day I have my first treatment
