Is ignorance truly bliss? Thoughts?

These lines by Alexander Pope initially talks about the vestals who were basically priestesses. He says that chaste women like them devote their lives to serving God and are far from worldly matters which is why they're happy. Ignorance being bliss. He talks about how them forgetting the world is reciprocated when the world forgets them too. It's kind of a mutual deliberate forgetting. He then says that it's the spotless mind which brings eternal sunshine or true bliss. A mind which has let go of the tribulations from the past and has dissociated itself from all deep rooted feelings. It's like being immune to worries or anxiety but then there isn't any joy from being in the company of someone too. According to the him, that void is filled by the devotion to God. And lastly, he refers to happiness due to the acceptance of her prayer for lapse of memory on events which were painful. He also talks about how she voluntarily gives up on her wish to be reunited with her long-lost love when she comes to terms with the fact that he never truly loved her.

The whole point of sharing this was to appreciate how beautifully in just four sentences Alexander Pope was able to tell a whole story without leaving any emotions out. I wonder what more could he have meant with these words. I'm sure there are a million more meanings wrapped in those words.
