Fun fact, this song was in a way meant to actually mock and ridicule the creators of Barbie dolls (Mattel) for setting unhealthy and unrealistic beauty standards and for how Barbie was a bad role model for girls. Hence, lyrics like "Life in plastic, it's fantastic!" and "I'm a blonde, bimbo girl in a fantasy world", etc. are basically subtle jabs at Mattel's product. Mattel did file a lawsuit over the song, and even tried to bring the case all the way up to the US Supreme Court! In the end, the song was judged to be a form of parody and therefore protected under the 1st Amendment. Still, once you realize this song is kind of a form of satire, you develop a new appreciation for it :)
