i really respect the way you're approaching your channel, you don't have a lot of subs but you're doing the right thing by pumping out high level content, and just as importantly, you're keeping a consistent schedule. i popped you a sub last week and have watched several of your videos on HFW since then. I'll stick with you and i hope you get the recognition you deserve one day!

Tip for the greenshine: with the create job function, you can pinpoint any greenshine location you need (even slabs, it just tells you exactly there they are). Some people don’t want to do this because it kinda ruins the adventure feeling, but if you want it, it’s definitely an option.

The drill spike saved me many times when you put a knockdown coil on it. It's fun watching machines collapse from the drills.

Just about every sentence you say (and you say a lot but no, it's not too much, it's just right), is balanced against just about every factor in the game. It's very compact and informative, without giving away spoilers ... you're just the complete package ! Honestly, I have never seen any other channel that is as informative about any game, that shows the playstyle(s) you prefer and why but leaving the options for others playstyles (and also why) so easily discernable. Man ... whatever job you do in RL you're probably being underpaid because it's not just your proficiency with the game but the level of expert knowledge you provide from having researched the differences in weapons and opponents, and give to us. A real breathe of fresh air in the world of commoner Youtubers that just want to show you "how THEY do things". You give US the choice. Absolutely well done.

Found you yesterday, I played horizon for about 8 hours today. You've helped show me how much more fun it can be. Can't believe how few subs you have this is top tier content.
Also, side note. The sharpshooter bow called Regallad wrath is very decent and has 40% damage when shooting at long distance.

On my second playthrough. This entire weapons and tips guide series (along with experience) is making the second time so much more fun and less aggravating.

I shall add to the chorus singing your praise. A year on and your videos are still proving invaluable to those of us new to the game. and thanks.

I was having trouble understanding the way the weapons system in this game works. I played HZD and kinda just ran through the story since HFW was out and I had it already. I have gathered some of the weapons you talked about. And for the first time ever in a game, I understand what it means to have a “play style” and learning that has let me lean into them more. I play a lot like you, just adapatable with a mix of styles. And I always felt it was wrong cuz I wasn’t “sneaking” or “range” or whatever. Now that I understand it thanks to your videos, I have just evolved the “adapatability” play style more and made it more comfortable. Thanks for helping me enjoy this game even more. You explained things so well here. Made it easy and now I am a wrecking machine! Went and did the rebel camps before endgame just cuz you said most woukdnt haha. Love this bow!!!

Honestly, I think the Ancestor’s Return is the best Shredder Gauntlet in the game.

Once upgraded to level 3 or above, if you mod it towards shock damage, you have insane shock potential.

Shredders are also very economic when it comes to ammo conservation. With a full pack of 24 shredders, if you can use it perfectly, you get 96 shots off a full quiver’s worth.

Back to the shock potential, though. It’s to a level that even machines resistant to shock can be put under extremely easily using it. (I’m playing on Hard at the moment if that’s any help)

With a maxed out Ancestor’s Return, I’ve been able to pretty consistently no hit Apex Slaughterspines, which are extremely resistant to shock. I’ll start off by using two shock shredders at a time, aiming at weak points that aren’t the spine cannons, and within 5-6 throws, I’ll have fully shocked it. These shredders start off doing 50-60 damage per hit, and launching it into a weak point or in between armour platings will make it latch onto the machine for longer, both doing more damage and allowing for more time to pick up the other shredder coming back to me. The second throw will do around 100 damage, give or take 10-20 extra damage. The third throws really do tons of damage-I’ve seen non crit hits of 200-300 damage per hit, and that’s all stacked by how long it shreds into the machine. Of course, the fourth hit explodes the shredder, focusing mainly on the shock/tear side of the damage, with less direct impact damage-however, the explosion does a huge amount of shock.

After I’ve shocked the machine, I either finish up using those two shredders I’ve thrown, or I store the second shredder and start with the spike thrower early.

With the Vindicator spike thrower, I’ll use 1-2 advanced explosive spikes (only use 2 if you’ve immediately switched to the spike thrower and haven’t finished using that second shredder), before switching to drill spikes.

Use one drill spike on each side of the spine cannons, making sure the second hits right before the shock wears off. These drill spikes stop the Slaughterspine from making more dangerous attacks, as the DOT on the spikes interrupts attacks and allows you more time to keep throwing those shredders in without interruption.

This strategy allows for pretty consistent no hitting Apex Slaughterspines, and it’s all reliant on the insane shock buildup of the Ancestor’s Return. On top of that, you’ll find that you have tons of loot to collect from the machine if you’ve aimed at weak points, because the Ancestor’s Return nearly never destroys components. Farming with this thing is an absolute breeze. It doesn’t require valour, techniques or anything. You can just shred the machine down like nothing, and all it costs is 7 metal shards, 3 machine muscle, and 3 sparkers for 8 shredders. That’s 32 hits!

I’ve watched a few of your vids before & now you’re my go to for anything Forbidden West related, so I’ve liked & subbed.

This video has helped a lot since I’m in the late game now. Fortunately I already have most of your recommendations. I wasn’t aware of the path to get shock arrow so I’ll be doing that next.

I’ve been practicing with spikes, shredders, & boltblasters following your earlier videos & these are working really well for me.

Nicely done. A lot of what you say gives evidence for what I've been drifting towards already but there are also some points that I hadn't considered. The tip on using the Delta with strikethrough arrows for clearing rebel camps is particularly helpful, so thank you for that.

On the subject of Warrior Bows I do have a bit of a different approach. I have found the Carja's Bane very useful as a vehicle for the instant status effect coils. One approach is to load it with five different effects. This can virtually stun-lock enemies and is great for building valor quickly. My preferred setup however is the two corrosive coils (4% each) and three brittle (3%, 2%, 2%). I dodge an attack, enter concentration, spam arrows until a brittle triggers, then switch to a damage oriented weapon. The arrows for the warrior bow are very cheap to make and the instant effect coils get around all resistances. My favorite for damage against brittle machines is actually the Renegade warrior bow with improved crit chance coils. While I love overdraw on the sharpshot and hunter bows I find the warrior bows more effective when prioritizing quantity of shots over aim.

For the stealth armor I prefer the Nora Tracker over the two purple ones you mentioned, just because it is easier to get the +2 for both Low Profile and Quiet Movement. When playing in the stealthy style my number one priority is staying in stealth or getting back into stealth if I've been spotted and the Nora Tracker fits that bill.

I'm doing Ultra Hard from scratch now (not NG+), and these guides are very helpful! Thank you sir!

I ask this because you’re my go to when I need help or info so for me this is the best Horizon channel! Your videos really help me and I really support you 🤩🤩🤩

I enjoy using the seeker bow for the tear damage I get from it. I upgraded that now quick, and it really helped me improve my machine hunting. It should definitely not be underestimated.

I gotta say, I’ve watched all your videos over and over and there is a reason you got to 20K so fast. It’s the best FW content on YouTube. I played ZD years ago but became so frustrated with all that was going on. Your videos really helped me enjoy this game so much. Thanks for all the effort you put into it and I look forward to your Hogwarts videos. That game is gonna be amazing.

Thank u, man. I'm brazilian and I'm playing Horizon for 100 hours in very hard. I'm exploring so much and killing so many machines that I arrived at Scalding Spear only today (I like to explore rs). Although I have too much loot and shards, I was worried about the quantity of purple weapons and outfits. I've upgraded a lot of greens and blues but now I will focus on the purple you mention. By the way, thank u for the gauntlets masterclass. Your material is fantastic. Keep on with the good work!

Awesome video Arktix! This series has the best tips & tricks for HFW on YouTube. Thanks for all the research you did for this video, your recommendations are definitely the best of the Very Rare tier. I'm on my second playthrough, just finished collecting all the sub-functions & currently working on upgrading some of the weapons you mentioned.

The Nora Valiant & Tenakth Skirmisher are my favorite outfits, both visually & mechanically. I do like using Valor Surges, so I give a slight edge to the Skirmisher. However, it needs some help to be on par with the balanced built-in perks that the Valiant has. I purchase & upgrade the Carja Shadow & Utaru Gravesinger outfits to unlock their weaves, Concentration +2 & Stamina Regen +2. Then I equip those on the Skirmisher to round out it's perks, basically turning it into the Valiant but with Valor Surge Master +2 & a huge shock resistance which helps when farming Slitherfangs, Tremortusks & Stormbirds for upgrades. Then I take the Deep Concentration +2 weave from the Skirmisher & add it to the Valiant. At that point, they're both viable Hunter outfits just short of the Nora Thunder Warrior.

Fire arrows have definitely been nerfed from ZD, as their damage over time can't be dramatically increased like before. I only use them against machines vulnerable to fire like Dreadwings to stun/ground them, buying time for a Braced Shot, healing, etc.

My current weapon loadout consists of the Marshal Hunter Bow, Seeker Hunter Bow modded with freeze coils, Delta Sharpshot modded with Stealth Damage +25 & Critical Hit Chance + coils, Elite Ropecaster modded with Draw Speed + & Reload Speed + coils, & the Relentless Boltblaster. Then I swap in & out the Wildfire Hunter Bow, Lightning Hunter Bow, Glowblast Sharpshot modded with Component Tear + coils, Corrosive Blast Sling & Adhesive Warrior Bow modded with Knockdown Power + coils to keep machines stunned while conserving resources with it's cheap ammo. Now I've just got to grab the Vindicator Spike Thrower & head to Legacy's Landfall to grab the free Thunderbolt Shredder Gauntlet.

Again, thanks for the great video & congrats on the new Discord & Twitter!

I decided to give myself a challenge and start over on UH, but restrict myself to purple gear. As always, your channel is the go-to place anytime that I need any Horizon resource! This video is perfect and saved me a lot time and analysis as to how I'm going about this. Thank you again! Side note - I'll put together a little donation in a bit, but I'm VERY glad that I saw your note on another video about YouTube taking 30% of donations. That's f*cking ridiculous and I had no idea that this happened. I figured that maybe they took a small percentage, but 30% is just terrible. I wish that I had known this a long time ago, so thanks for the heads up. Heading over the ko-fi now. :)

Coming here after the PC release and watching almost every one of your videos and tutorials, because oh man are they so helpful! I've been waiting for so long to play this game, and it's *so much harder* than Zero Dawn, so having you to guide me is a lifesaver.
