After establishing the main targets that must be hit in order to take down the weapon smuggling operation, Major Alex Hunter flies above the city, armed for a night strike. The militias controlling the city don't have the technology required to detect his stealth plane, but they do their best to fill the sky with bullets.

Why would the Russian Mi-24 Hind's be a threat to F-35's? The Air to Air Missiles carried by Mi-24's (R-60 Aphids or IGLA Stinger missiles) are only for Self Defense purposes rather than as an offensive Anti-Air capability unless the enemy Aerial threat is a "Bandit" Attack helicopter like an AH-1 Cobra or AH-64 Apache. The F-35's are stealthy and the Precision Guided Munitions will destroy these Warehouses, Hideouts and Ships so there is in reality to engage these Hind's. And since the Hind's were engaged and destroyed the Flankers (Su-27's)  were soon Airborne. In real life an F-35 pilot would simply drop bombs and get hell outta dodge.
