Nemo hornet 2 demonstration - review

Finally got home the Nemo hornet 2 - 2 man lightweight tent. This tent weighs just 910grams complete with tent pegs, poles and seam sealed. In this video I set it up, show it from all sides, climb in and play around.

I bought this tent on sale for pretty cheap and I love it. You're right; it's the perfect 1 man tent. Ultra light, super fast and easy to set up and tear down, and if you pack the poles separately, the tent/fly pack down to half the original size. The interior can seem small, but if you tie off the tent walls to the rain fly, it becomes surprisingly roomy. Double vestibules and 360° of mesh make it feel even more free and open. Definitely an underrated UL tent, I rarely see it mentioned.

Staking out the tent before putting the pole thru will make it more taut of a pitch and allow the rainfly to sit better. This avoids a lot of the water issues many people complain about the tent

Great review! I got a bonus tip from this gentleman. He made comment as to titanium stakes vs. aluminum. Almost every sells aluminum and titanium are expensive but seem to not hold up as well or at least for the cost...not worth it in many cases. Thank you!

I bought this tent for backpacking because of the weight, since I'm not a big guy, and carry a lot of emergency gear. I love the packed size- I can put it inside my pack to protect from stray branches. One pole, so a really easy setup. Gotta smile at Nemo's definition of 2 person, though. I think the two would either have to be very small, or VERY friendly! Seems to be a serious condensation issue. I just spent one night in it that was clear, warm, and dry. I didn't even use the fly, but the tent still was soaked on the inside.

Nice demonstration and addition to the shop. I would like to ask you for a short similar video on the Fizan poles you have at the shop. There aren't many videos out there on those poles and hard to know the exact different.

Rain fly has gaping hole right where your head is at. Good luck keeping warm and dry during windy rainy nights. I will be returning this tent ASAP. Wish I had watched these videos before I bought it. And no way can you fit two people comfortably inside this tent. Nice review though, cool channel. Glad you like it.

I see u use a footprint but not the original one . How did u make the footprint, how heavy is it and which material did u use ?
I saw countless videos where everybody not using a groundsheet / footprint but you use one ...what should I do ? Thank u greets from Germany

I bought this from REI and took it on one trip. I think I'm going to return it. I love the weight and it's pretty fast to set up, but there's a major problem for me. I'm tall and use a somewhat thicker sleeping pad. Due to how the foot area slopes and sags, there is no getting around my feet touching the inner wall of the tent. This made the end of my sleeping bag get wet.

I'm considering getting something from Tarptent, as they have flatter walls on the ends. I'm open to recommendations if anyone suggests something else. I am 6'2" (187 cm) and use a 4" thick sleeping pad.

does anyone have experience with these in heavy rain? noticed the back panel bottoms out quite high up the tent back half of it single layered, does water seep through there?

OMG Someone is actually doing a video on the Nemo Hornet 2P. I think I might have a coronary. I've been looking for some additional information and it's scarce...other than a few YTers who've had issues with the head end getting wetted out because the fly doesn't extend down all the way. Nice job.

I could not see - but have they fixed the big problem with the fly near the head end? The curve lets water in when it rains. Huge problem. But love the weight.
