Happy Hanukkah

Hanukkah is the Jewish, wintertime “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers and fried foods.
#Hanukkah begins on the eve of Kislev 25 and continues for eight nights. On the civil calendar, it generally coincides with the month of December.
This year, Hanukkah begins on November 28 th at sundown and ends on the evening of December 6th.
Hanukkah is a holiday celebrating the miracle of one day’s oil that burned for 8 nights helping the Jews to cleanse and rededicate the Second Temple after it was destroyed by Antiochus IV. In celebration, it is customary to eat foods fried in oil, like the Eastern-European classic potato latke (pancake) garnished with applesauce or sour cream, and the Israeli favorite jelly-filled sufganya (doughnut).
On Hanukkah, kids and adults alike play “dreidel”. The game is usually played for a pot of coins, which is won or lost based on which letter the dreidel lands when it is spun.
