there WAS a superflat nether, but they changed in. As Far As I know, It still was on 1.6 and 1.13. I know this because I played the PS3 edition

shoulda put a nether portal at the End Portal due to the distnace. Surprised you didnt get diamond armor and elytra at the end cities -especially since they nerfed trading and effed it up lol

If a zombie spawns with stuff in their hands or on their person they still despawn, it's if they pick it up off the ground because it's a feature designed to keep a mob from wearing your full set of armor and then just disappearing

To get obsidian, you could have gotten lava from the nether/black smith in villages and poured water on them, too. Instead of mining the corner pieces of the nether portal.
