Tamiya Grasshopper 2 Black Edition Shock Oil Change & Adding Yeah Racing Tornado Fan to TBLE-04S

In this video I change the shock oil in the rear shocks on the Tamiya Grasshopper II Black Edition as the standard "Soft" Tamiya oil seems still too stiff. I also add a Yeah Racing Tornado fan to the Tamiya TBLE-04S to aid in cooling as I'm running the Tamiya Super Stock RZ motor. Enjoy!

Thanks for watching.

Hi Mick! Good tip with the 1-screw fan. Looks fine yes. Uhh, and yes, blame it on the faulty Hopper-rear-suspension. I always do ☺️ (re-watching)

I drilled the holes bigger in the plastic washer inside the shock and added 2 more holes . I also like to run very little oil in the shocks. Like 1/4 full.

That fan has some power, ive thought about getting a hopper but just been building the wifes plasma edge 2 and liked it so much i had to get one as well.
Put the yeah racing upgrades in it but it looks like the stock Tt02 b is strong enough. Just don't like the plastic centre drive shaft, replaced all of them on every tt02 . Rest of it looks tough enough. Looks great with all the alloy but I don't think it needs it. Have a good one mate.

Missed out on this. Good job with the video. And yeah, it is what it is. I think if you put water or nothing in those shocks it would still be too hard 😂 Especially at throttle, it just pulls the whole gear box the wrong way. Anyways, thanks for the tip with the yeah racing fan. Good and easy and affordable solution compared to the over-prized Tamiya fans. Thumbs up, Mick. Good to revisit the channel. Watched a couple of videos now. Not much time with the small kids for the hobby.

Mick, if you still think it's too tight.... because it IS, I've come up with a cheap fix!
Replace the rear Springs with the lightest set from the Axial SCX-10. 👌😉
It made a ton of difference in my Hoppers and Hornets!! The Rear just has TOO much unsprung weight, for any kind stiff Springs. I've actually CURED the infamous rear Hop, doing this Mod!

I dropped 10WT in all 4 shocks. Mmm 🤔
Will see how it drives, eventually 👍🤓🇦🇺

Your rear end in your grasshopper is installed wrong the tiny springs face down not up your cocking the rear end in a up possession it needs to be at the bottom of travel not the top that's why your 540 is hitting the shocks

Hi mate, have you tried one of those 3d printed devices to stop the rear suspension kicking up when you add power?

how is this one compared to dt01 fighter buggy classic?

Yeah just vintage shock design I reckon. Over here I’m part way through restoring a Kyosho Shadow with your restoration videos on loop in the background. Living the dream 🙌🏻

Nice video sir, as usual. I want to build another Tamiya kit but dunno wich one (i like them all). Any recommendations? I want something that encloses the real Tamiya spirit, but not too complicated or expensive.

The suspension design works if you only drive in reverse.

Nice demo Mick. Is it possible to change the gearbox pivot so that the motor doesn't rub on the springs? You can set the Lunchbox up so that the motor doesn't touch the springs and that is similar. Like you say you can't really make the handling that good on one of those, it's going to hop anyway. Cheers for now mate :-)

Thanks for the tip on the rear shocks I’ve got some lighter oil that the Tamiya so will put that in. Be interesting to see how it goes when driving it. Wonder if it’s actually better with standard pogos

Iol....Brilliant! nail on the head Mick!! Its a Grasshopper what can we expect! very true! Even when people modified the cheese out of these they still hope and bounce!😉👍
10/10 for fun though!!
One thing l did too was to put a little spacer in the shock cylinder to lower it a bit and it keeps the motor off the spring a little! But end of the day just drive and smile 😁
