I’m sitting here wondering what Cuz Teahan would have called this tune. He had a name for everything. I’ll check around with one of his acolytes.

Update: I found it in Cuz’s book. This Gm reel is a version of Frank Thornton’s Fling that Cuz played in Em. That’s Frank Thornton the Chicago flute player and promoter/organizer, not the actor who played Captain Peacock on the sitcom Are You Being Served.

Now I’m going to try playing the Em fling then go into the G reel and see how it works. 😊

Not sure if it's intentional but to me this version had the feeling of a beautiful tribute to Hayes and Cahill, with both the fiddle and guitar parts having aspects of their playing and I especially love the reserve hang-back accompaniment. Never heard this before, even though I think it's the same Terry "Cuz" Teehan from the more common tune!
