Because of the death, Hebrews 9:22, without the shedding of blood, there's no forgiveness. So Jesus came to forgive us through the cross. And then He came to give us new life. And then we see in the upper room Jesus left them after the last supper after explaining the meaning of this new thing called the Lord's Supper, communion, where we celebrate the blood of Jesus that forgave us. We celebrate the body that was broken so that we could be made whole, so that we could be made Holy, so that we could be accepted and made perfect forever. And then He's in the Garden of Gethsemane and He's saying- Father, is there any other way? Not my will, but your will. His sweat became like great drops of blood. He was so anxious. He was so distraught that this happened. He did it for you! He did it for me. The love that He has for you. He sweated blood for you and me! And He did it! He chose the anguish, the punishment, the cross for relationship with you.
