If you have trouble seeing text on your computer or just don't like to read, then there is a way to have Google Chrome read web page text to you, so you don't have to. All you need to do is install an extension called Natural Reader Text to Speech and it will do the work for you. There are options to change the speed of the voice as well as the voice itself. You can also upload file such as Word documents or PDF files to have the extension read them for you. If you use the pay for version, you can even download text as an MP3 file.

Here is a link to the extension.

Here is a writeup of the process on our website.

Thank you! I thought I was a visual learner, like most people I think, but after 27 years, and in my last semester of university, I finally connected the dots and realized I am more of an audio learner. This extention helps me to do class assignments SO much quicker!

Thanx so much for this video. It was straight forward and helped answer questions I had! I am ready to get started now with confidence.

Every google chrome read aloud extensions I've tried are robotic sounds, like the one in this vid, unlike the one in Edge which sounds more natural and it's already built in. I'm not sure why google couldn't adopt it to their browser. But maybe there's a patent? Then I'll keep using Edge for this purpose

Interesting. I am trying it. Suddenly instead of me highlighting text it began reading the entire article and suddenly on Wikipedia skipped the footnotes so that was cool it didn't read the numbers. However, it read the contents area which stunk. I don't know what I did to have it read an entire article versus a paragrah or highlighted text. Free and premium worked but wanted dontation which I skipped. I don't know what the difference is between free and premium area is but the Plus never worked or wanted that dontation. Can you add more voices? I guess not. Free is a bit more robotic but much better than some free software. Maybe the premium version will expire if I don't donate?

P.S.I think to get it to read entire articles or web pages you hit a headphones icon after you highlight a word or two, but if you just highlight the text and hit play it only reads the text and on wikipedia it would read any footnotes that way, but when you hit the headphones icon it skips footnotes.
