I was in elementary school in the 50's, back when most families had one car, and one TV with only 3 stations. We would come home and change out of our school clothes, get a snack and go outside to play.
Dinner was always about 5 pm. After dinner we would put on our pajamas and do our homework. My mother said we needed to go outside to play first because we needed a break from school work. She was correct, and very wise.
We only played inside on rainy days, but in California there weren't very many of those.
We would watch Saturday morning kid shows or cartoons before going outside,
but we didn't spend a lot of time in front of the TV or playing inside. Jump rope, Hop Teather ball, bike riding and many other run things.
We had no idea we were exercising because to us, we were just having fun. Those were the good old days!!
