Great list as always, my top 10 would have to include Leave Her To Heaven and Detour somehow.

Solid list. You did a great job capturing what makes Children of Paradise so great.
A Tree Grows In Brooklyn is worth checking out and surprised Detour didn’t make the list.

Hello, sir. A viewer of my channel just referred me to yours as I recently did a video on the films of Robert Hamer. How wonderful to hear you are grandson of Googie Withers and John McCallum. Ironically I had to gloss over Pink String and Sealing Wax in my video as I haven’t yet been able to see it. But Googie and John are great in It Always Rains on Sunday and I have enjoyed a number of their other movies including They Came to a City, Miranda and The Long Memory…..This is a great top 10 and certainly no complaints with your #1 choice. I will check out your other videos. All the best

Cool list! Haven’t made my way to 1945 on my own videos yet. That’ll happen next year.
Might watch Children of Paradise tonight. Certainly later this month.
It’s a long march march after all.

Maybe you didn't see Scarlet Street... A masterpiece of Fritz Lang.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (by Elia Kazan) is another imprescindible film

Great list! Totally agree with number one, as that is a big favorite of mine. I also think Children Of Paradise and Rome, Open City are great, but I feel like I owe them a rewatch. Also putting Dead Of Night on my watchlist. Great work, as usual. Cheers!

My 2 favorites of 1945 were always: "The story of G.I. Joe" with Robert Mitchum and "A Walk in the sun" with Loyd Bridges. military stories first hand. Great episode again.

Number two and number seven I haven't seen. I have never forgotten Dead Of Night and haven't seen the whole film since the early 90s. Everybody remembers Sir Michael Redgrave, but I also never forgot the Googie Withers segment, even though I didn't know her name at the time. I sort of remember Night & The City because she is unforgettable in that. This is a great list. Maybe I would add They Were Expendable and The Clock. Isn't Children Of Paradise the "shut up we can't hear the mime" movie? I remember lots of great movie lines.

Brief Encounter. The most romantic, while least sexual of movies.

I'll stand with the French New Wave on the merit of 'Children Of Paradise'. I thought it wasn't the masterpiece that everyone besides me thought it was. The mime didn't help. And it's not because I disliked mimes before watching this film. I dislike mimes because of this film.
