This is just about the most useful lift I have seen, I bought one straight after your video Steve, and it is so well made, I use it for supporting lengths of timber while using the mortiser, and on my mitre saw, a wonderful piece of equipment! Many thanks for the heads up ! Chris B.

A really elegant solution, I have a cheap and nasty Rutlands router table and although it does the job if you can spend ages setting it up, it is so much trouble for one small job I rarely bother, this loos like a cheap and easy way of doing it. Stay safe! Chris B.

Been thinking about some time. I have a larger motor. A cheap lift may cost $50.00 but ... trimmer size not larger. In real time all the lift has to do is bare the weight of the motor or machine. The router has its own slides and lock. What's not to like about this solution, no worries about sloppiness becouse again the router base takes care of that. No brainer, Will definitely save me $300.00

I used a scissor jack designed for cars. I made a wooden (of course) handle so it didn't require anything additional to raise it. However, I looked up your solution because those tiny tables keep coming up on eBay, and it's definitely more compact and portable.

Hi Steve, That is brilliant. Where on ebay did you find it? The main reason I don't use a router is fine adjustment is so difficult without a lift and as you said they are expensive. Take care Steve. Hi great blog one question did you remove the springs

but routers usually have cooling holes on the top, dont know if its wise to cover them up with the lift plate

Hi.. Hoping you have used the lift a few times since my question. Does the height wander at all whilst the router is running ? I have thoughts of the lift sinking with the vibration. Have you found this to be the case at all ?
