Two Englishmen playing Southerners. These are two of the best actors I’ve experienced on television.

“Either way I don’t pretend to be a governor” The way he says that is just so good lol

Rick at this point was an angry hallucinating maniac and the governor was a masked psychopath. Both were struggling mentally with their losses in different ways. Seeing the two kinds of crazy finally meet face to face was very interesting.

Rick: You're the town drunk.
Governor: I brought whiskey.

Its so impressive how they cut out the original audio of David morissay singing broadway and overdubbed it with this random dramatic conversation

Rick & The Governor share a duality/foil:

When Tyrese and the others met Rick/Governor the first time, they’re POV’s of the two were unexpected when finding out who they truly are later on:

Rick-Was viewed as the crazy & unhinged one during the events of losing Lori, but deep down originally he’s a good guy & collected.

Governor-Was viewed as a stable & a good guy to them, but deep down originally is evil & a psychopath in his own ways

Both of they’re right hand man’s are brothers that are also foils to each other:

Rick-Daryl

Governor-Merle

Both visited each other’s camps at different times of the day & also different approaches:

Rick-Him & his group came to woodbury during the night to rescue Glenn & Maggie with a more stealth/silent approach.

Governor-Him & his group came to the prison during the day to immediately start a shootout at Rick’s group with a more loud/reckless approach.

Even the places they live are polar opposites:

Rick-Lives in a Prison that looks unwelcoming & abandoned.

Governor-Lives in Woodbury that looks welcoming & filled with people.

Rick-Never killed his own people in rage.

Governor-Has killed his own people in rage.

Rick-Was beginning to recover & heal from losing his wife Lori.

Governor-Was beginning to lose his façade & became more broken from losing his daughter Penny

“Restitution for your own lack of insight. For failing to see the devil beside you” bro the governor was soo evil and not just with actions lmao. Those words must have stung Rick like a wasps nest inside.

The first 3-4 seasons of the show were so good. I loved the conversations they had in the early seasons. Season 3 Rick was the best imo. He was fully adapting to the new world now and was having personal and mental issues he had to face.

Governor: I thought you were a cop, not a lawyer

Shane(if he was there): you're quite observant for one eye

Older seasons had the best writing and best producers amc made a big mistake firing Frank darabont

Honestly the whole “restitution for your own lack of insight, failing to see the devil beside you” followed up with the “oh I see him alright” lines are such god tier lines if you think the Governor represents a Rick without a Hershel who couldn’t move on from Lori’s death as by the time this conversation happens both Rick and Gov were still recovering from Lori’s and walker penny’s deaths and it’s probably why Rick doesn’t fear the governor as he knows what he is aka his inner demons and it also shows that the Governor is bullshitting as he was constantly failing to notice that he was simply too far gone.

Why the hell would Andrea even share that kind of information about Rick/ Shane's kid? did the writers want us to cheer for her demise?

Lincon went on a whole journey as rick but david morrise really more than naegan or anyone acted everyone out the park, he is such a talented actor and never had the wobble in the accent lincon who went to scary levels had, david morrisey deserves more hollywood roles

All I know is Shane would do everything to kill The Governor right there and all the things that happened after could have been avoided.
