About the Speaker:

Ms. Dena Merriam is the Chair of the International Advisory Committee for Auroville. She began her inter-faith work in the late 1990s, serving as Vice Chair of the Millennium World Peace Summit at the UN in 2000. In 2002, she founded the Global Peace Initiative of Women (GPIW) and helped create the Contemplative Alliance in 2008. A devoted student of Paramahansa Yogananda and Kriya Yoga for over 40 years, she has also studied the Vedic tradition. A Columbia University graduate, she received the Niwano Peace Prize in 2014 and an Honorary Doctorate in Peace Studies from MCU, Thailand. She is the author of several books, including My Journey Through Time, The Untold Story of Sita, When the Bright Moon Rises, Rukmini and the Turning of Time, and To Dance with Dakinis.
