cheap easy windshield rust repair you can do in just a few hours with limited tools. Depending on how bad your rust situation is will affect how long it takes to do this repair but to be honest, I spent more time waiting for things to dry than actually working on it. This repair doesn't remove the rust it just slows it down fills any holes and gives the metal some of it's strength back while protecting it from the elements. Window tracks are very prone to rusting out especially on older vehicles with trim around them. It traps dirt, debris and moisture allowing it to sit and just rust away the metal day after day.
This is an effective way to fix the rust on a daily driver, rat rod or maybe a show car you aren't doing a full restoration on. Maybe you have a show car and you plan on cutting the metal out and doing the full repair at a later date and just need something semi-permanent to get by for a bit. This is perfect for you! With a little more time and effort this method of repair could look a lot nicer. The exposed surface of the car could be sanded smooth primed and painted with the correct automotive paint to match perfectly. That would obviously be overkill on the old van.

only thing i would have done different, would been treat the the rust with phosporic acid and paint it before filling the holes.

there is no product that can adhere and protect well all in the same time.. you always need undercoat for adhesion and overcoat for protection.

For the amount of effort you’re going to you better off to cut the screen out and do it properly as the way your doing it will only last so long before it rusts out even more all depends on how much you love the car what I’d do is weld a flat panel over the wiper box vent completely block it off no water 💦 no rust after it’s been welded up properly and painted then remove the heater box and any other stuff that’s not needed and put a under dash ac unit custom mounted to the dash …. But I suppose with that old rusting shitbox anything goes 😂😂😂😂😂
