Thank you for bringing this up because not a lot of Filipino now know about Fortunato Catalon. He was truly a legend in his field of endeavor- track and field from 1917 to 1925 gold medalist in 100yards, 220 yards Tokyo/Manila/Shanghai/Osaka in the Far Eastern Championship Games.

Thank you, MANA! The Info, telling the historical past events of one iconic personalities & excellent achiever as a Track & Field Sprinter Runner, name Fortunato Catalon, as a “Epitome” of your own country in Japan.

He’s already part of our own treasure as a “FILIPINO HERITAGE.”
“MANA” in Tagalog & in English means “HERITAGE.”🇵🇭⭐️⭐️⭐️🌴😘

Catalon hailed from a family of farmers, and in his youth, he played sports at the Leyte High School. On his very first competition, Catalon bagged second place with a record of 10.2 seconds, just behind 1915 winner Genaro Saavedra. At the age of 19,

The Glico man is based off on 3 individuals. 2 Japanese and Catalon. All 3 were great athletes in the 1920s.
What they got from Catalon is the iconic raised arms upon reaching the finish line. All the other aspects are from the other 2 Japanese athletes
