The European Union’s new laws on artificial intelligence come into force on Thursday in what’s believed to be a significant step forward in regulating the technology. It’s the world’s first comprehensive set of rules for AI.

The technology has advanced substantially and rapidly in recent years. That’s prompted regulators and lawmakers around the world to try and move swiftly to adapt to the progress, which many have heralded as promising, but with potential threats to humanity. TRT World’s Joel Flynn takes a look at what the new rules could mean.

There are different ways to categorize employees, but generally, there are three types of employees:

1. Full-time employees: These are employees who work for a company on a regular basis and typically work 40 hours per week. They may be eligible for benefits such as health insurance, vacation time, and retirement plans.

2. Part-time employees: Part-time employees work for a company on a regular basis but typically work fewer than 40 hours per week. They may or may not be eligible for benefits, depending on the company's policies.

3. Contract employees: Contract employees, also known as freelancers or independent contractors, work for a company on a project basis or for a set period of time. They are not typically eligible for benefits and are responsible for paying their own taxes and expenses.

Some companies may also have temporary or seasonal employees, interns, or apprentices, but these are not considered as separate types of employees.

I wish there were actual concrete “reasons “ listed not just “feelings” because it’s hard to understand why they say what they do or ignore that being we are not bound by country in terms of ai, why should we be restricted just cuz ppl over there don’t want to be? What if I prefer to have surveillance over not for reasons such as finding lost people, maybe I’m schizophrenic or old and want cameras making sure I’m acting right, or maybe I’m poor and want cameras making sure nobody hurts my kids in a poor community? I’ve yet to discover recent actual data that shows there is discrimination inside LLMs or that there isn’t a way to solve for that other than sensationalized news videos with narrowed views. So you’re probably right but unless you’re able to share the why, even if it requires my attention span be more solid, it’s hard to see what the benefit is of stopping us average people while mega companies still develop. It feels like you’re doing more harm than good in an effort to do more good

I believe you may have meant to ask about "Artificial Intelligence Rules" (AI rules). AI rules are a set of instructions or guidelines that define how an artificial intelligence system should behave or act in certain situations. These rules are created by developers and programmers to ensure that AI systems make decisions that align with the goals and values of the organization or individual who created them. AI rules can cover a wide range of topics, such as data privacy, security, ethical considerations, and more. The goal of AI rules is to create a framework for responsible and ethical use of AI technologies.
