NEW Citroen C5 X 2022 review: should this be your next PHEV company car?

The French carmaker’s new C5 X doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but Citroen says that just means it’s ahead of the game. So is it right?

Well, as I’m not from the future it’s hard to say at the moment but there’s a whole lot going on with the new C5 X. It has plastic bits on the side like a crossover, a long bonnet like a luxury limo and a shooting brake boot that gives it a very peculiar silhouette. There’s also nothing remotely sporty about it - the C5 X is all about comfort. There’s a new suspension system that irons out bumps and something called ‘Advanced Comfort Seats’ that feature a material similar to memory foam. And if you go for the PHEV version you’ll be able to drive for up to 34 miles in complete silence. So while the C5 X may look weird, it’s certainly got the numbers and features to grab your attention…

Citroen are another one of those cars that represents surprisingly great value for your money.

Minimalist and simple but is that really a bad thing in an age when you have so many gadgets that you really don't want or need half of them.

Very nice looking car very Citroen. I think I prefer this to the DS4 or DS9 it’s more distinctive Great review very well presented.

almost a decade ago, citroen launched a couple of cars with a split headlight design, including the c4 picasso. nowadays, that running light above and headlights below design is going to be BMW's and Lamborghini's new design... that featured in a mpv almost a decade ago.... from Citroen:D (they are ahead of the game XD)

Always enjoy clicking on your videos Cam, consistent quality content. The C5 X is leagues above the Citroën Xsara Picasso I'm currently driving!

Just "Test Driven" the 2024 C5x....OUTSTANDING would be an understatement, perfection personified.
I've been a hardened owner of Honda Vehicles for well over 22 years but I honestly believe that Honda has 'lost the plot', for want of a better phrase...the latest ZR-V is so 'Bland' it is literally unbelievable WHY Honda has adopted the principal of "let's see what we can get away with".

Citroën however, with the new 'Parent' Company, has not only developed a fantastic Range of vehicle's, but they have adopted the correct Pricing Structure, unlike Peugeot surprisingly....and certainly NOT Honda !

Drive and comfort with the C5x is so refined it cannot be faulted.
Love the content of your Review, exacting and informative...well done, G.A.R.

Big Citroens always leaned in corners and required some balls to drive them fast. They required balls not because they were dangerous. They required balls, because if the someone drove only german cars before, they'll be overwhelmed by the body movement at first. They're perfectly stable when leaning and after you reach dead point on the suspension. And with the hydropneumatic they were also perfectly stable when switching left to right and right to left. Big Citroens have to lean, thats what makes them THE CITROEN. I'm yet to test that Progressive Cushion thing and I hope it won't dissapoint me.

Class vehicle. Great review. Would love one of these but unless I win the lottery I won't hold my breath.

Would this beauty be able to tow a twin axle caravan weighing 1800kgs ? In other words what’s the maximum towing capacity please? Thanks. I really would love this Citroen.

Finally a "true" Citroën! A very beautiful car indeed. Thank you for the presentation.

The side profile reminds me of the Citroen b4 that my Grandparents had (many years old when they had it in about 1984).

You never mentioned Android Auto. Is it on the car or is it not? More people use it than Apple cp. Also, how iften do you need to charge the battery? Is it a daily chore or longer? A d you never showed the charge point.

Awesome. Will there be a version with 100% electric motor?

Holy Airflow! Lots of architecture to share with cousin Chrysler in their re-development of that near luxury American brand. It’s family after all. Stellantis must share resources to pull off this merger, this looks like a candidate for that thinking.

Looks a bit busy and fussy from some angles on the exterior. I wish you would comment on interior fit and finish. A nice review, nevertheless.

Too bad there's no all wheel drive on offer for the countries with winter, would be a nice car to have.
