Just quick upload. Have aliens invaded Chicago?!? Nope just horrendous lens flare shooting with my new shiny iPhone 12 Pro Max latest and greatest cameras....SO bad how could Apple not have thought this was an issue?!? Have you guys taken notice to this and what are your thoughts?

I just don't know what's worse. Apple not acknowledging the problem, or those obnoxious people claiming this is completely normal and happens on all smartphones.

My 12 pro max has tons of green dots on the night pics and videos. Disappointed and going to return it. No reviewers even mention this. This is a hardware flaw and thank you for bringing this up.

I was searching about my new iPhone13 problem and got this video. I am amazed that this video was made 2 years back and today Dec, 2022, ditto problem exists. Such a shame on apple. This is my first iPhone and I wished if I could have watched this video before. ios 16 :D

Called customer support and guy told that its first time he saw this issue, funny. May be he just landed in earth from these UFO flares. My first and last iphone, I will try my best to brain wash 100 more people to stay away from this sh**.

100% True and agreed. NOT buying iPhone 12 or any phone with this stupid flares. I like what you said - what is the point of other features e.g. low-light image, HDR etc when you finally getting these annoyance on your photos.

After the release of iPhone 11, this seemed to be a very big problem. I'm surprised that this still hasn't been improved and major reviewers don't care much about it.
When I see a video on SNS, I can now instantly tell if it was shot with an iPhone 11-13 or not. This is thanks to lens flare.
It seems Apple is so desperate to improve the SOC that they are not willing to evolve the lens cover glass.

I experience the same problem. Have you tried to cover lenses with some anti-glare coating? Maybe it helps?

you word my problem perfectly. My first raging enthusiasm got seriously tempered by this hardware problem! Indeed in so many of my pictures (can be saved by photoshop), but in video it's most of the times not-fixable because of the flares jumping around because of the stabilisation. I would be ready to avoid filming into the sun, but city lights??? TV's??

Was very disappointed with this. My s10 doesn't do this so i might as well stick to using that for night video/pictures.

exactly brother.. its a fucking joke. How come the big tech reviewers never mention/experience this. I was pretty disappointed when i saw these alien lights in the 4k 60fps video i was trying to show off with! Apple cameras are way behind the other flagship phones and even when they take their sweet time to come up with some 'innovation' a year old, then it comes with disaster of problems like this.

So I just got the iphone 12 and I do photography. One of the biggest reason I got the phone was BECAUSE of the camera and after I went out to a theme park with the phone I noticed these ghosting flares just like in the video you have...I don't have the dots but the ghosting is NOT normal. A lot of people are telling me it's normal but it's definitely NOT normal.
