This session (1) highlighted the importance of a stellar scientific workforce in the federal government; (2) shined a spotlight on the importance of having in place the enabling conditions for science to thrive and to inform understanding, policy and action; and (3) highlighted the current opportunity to ‘Build Back Better’ – i.e., to grow, diversify, and strengthen the federal scientific workforce and create the requisite conditions for it to truly serve the need of all Americans.
