Looking great. Just a heads up, where the ladder rails meet the hull can be a nasty finger jammer. Been there, done that. In the water kids tend to float up to the ladder, grab the side pole and then put weight on when getting out. I always had to remind the kids to keep their hands on the steps not the side poles. Happens a couple of times and you learn. Great work.

I am glad you went with this replacement engine. Electric is not as glorious as it looks. Cheers

Thats a great engine, we have the same MD22, for many years. Always starts. Notice that you can buy Volvo parts or Perkins parts, Just from my experience it's the same as Perkins Prima M50/M60, but "marinenized" and these have been used for (Austin Morris and) Rover cars in the UK, Volvo charges 900 for a timing belt, then with a bit of luck you find parts exactly the same for a 1/3 of the price. The weak point? the mixing elbow behind the heat exchanger. (rust after a couple of years) A huge improvement from having only one engine.

Congratulations on your engine. It looks very nice. Things are starting to come together. I was just thinking to myself thought I would share it with you, but you can take a small piece of vacuum line cut it to length and then cut a slit down one side from top to bottom And you can glue it right to the end of the aluminum pieces then you have rubber protection won’t cut your lines or save them and no one can get caught on them or hurt there self just a thought . Hope to see you out there on the water. 😁

I was like “Show us the motor! Not Eric’s black & green undies!” . Need to get that camera man focused! Congrats on actually getting the motor. Swim ladder looks slick also.

I know your gonna use some backing plates on the inside of hull for swim ladder

Perhaps a fair lead at the cabin top would be a simpler and quicker permanent hack

I hope you secured the bathing ladder bolts and sealed the holes with polyurethane Sikaflex. Otherwise you will constantly have water in the rear inner part of the transom. This P48 model has a stupid bulkhead that prevents this water from flowing down to the engine compartment. I had to drill holes to naturally drain this water down to the pump under the engine. I also recommend attaching the pump under the engine to a removable stainless steel rod so that this rod and the pump can always be pulled out and serviced, because access to the pump in this model is absolutely terrible.

Cool. I have a Volvo engine in my boat as well.
