Hi John, you must show us more videos of you playing live

I've noticed what you're getting at in many other excellent YouTube guitarists as well. Joe Satriani says that he practices/plays at home "standing up" as it is the way he plays live. He tries to play at home as if he's onstage so it "feels the same" when he plays live. Sage advice from a master of live performance. 😎

I've heard many other top guitarists echo these thoughts as well. In a recent "Musicians Hall of Fame Backstage" interview, I heard Skunk Baxter say that he prefers playing guitar sitting down, so that's what he does live.

I preferred the live solo!
We often lose the passion and emotion when in the safety of our bedroom. TAKE RISK!!! 😁🎸🎵🤜🤛🔥

I love the lines you create. Honestly I started watching your videos because of your lovely guitar. First time hearing of K-Line, they seem awesome.

I’d be well happy if I could play that in my bedroom never mind live!

For the audiences I play for, what matters is something like, what _songs_ you play, not what notes you play. ;)

Fooonky !! So awesome ! And the live footage is incredible...you know everyone would love to see more of these anyway 😉 Were you playing the Twatocaster as you call it ? The Cordy Tele ? 😂

You're not feeding off of the crowd and your bandmates in the bedroom - both sounded great.

First, let me say that you are one of the best guitarists that I’ve heard on YouTube! Very inspiring and very relevant to me and my playing. I have a Helix Floor and a Silver Sky that I really love. I also have a Duesenberg Starplayer TV and a newer PRS CE24. I was thinking about picking up a Gretsch Duo Jet soon as I had a Chinese Pro Jet a while back that was actually a really great guitar for the money. In the meantime, you’ve piqued my interest in K-line guitars. I love the Gretsch sound but I’m also a massive Strat fan. It’s my favorite style of guitar if I had to choose one. So I’m kinda torn. Duo/Sparkle Jet? Or do I go for something like a K-line or even a second Silver Sky? Keeping in mind my Duesy and CE24, what do you think? I know you liked the Silver Sky but do you think the K-line offers anything more or different? Right now I’m leaning Duo Jet.

Both very good solos, especially the home made!
My constructive critic if I'm allowd is common to a lot of your playing: allow for more space; shorter licks although now and then a longer one.

I’d love to see a breakdown of what you actually played.

Ok, didn't see it coming 😄 Live was way better. Thing is in practice there's no time limit and normally less of a "one shot" mindset.

Sir, Who is the guitar man in the picture in the thumbnail?
Could you let me know?

Both are fine, the live solo tho looks like you came to the gig right after balancing some books at work. Needs more hair maybe some leather and shades

My solo playing sux, so my solo playing sounds like my bedroom practicing 🤦🏿‍♂️

I'm curious if you wished you had laid back more for your solo - hence the title of the video. I've been guilty of getting overwhelmed by the excitement of the moment playing live before - and when I looked back, I wished I hadn't gotten so wiggly with the fingers. This is not a criticism. I loved them both.

Nice job! In my opinion the first step to a good solo is to lose the scale runs. If you watch a session player (like a Pete Thorn) you will never see them do one.. there will be parts used in transitions. A musical solo that can be sung is more memorable and will stand out in my opinion.
