Samsung Galaxy Ring review: A bit basic, a bit pricey

Though the Galaxy Ring is fairly basic at the moment, it seems to have a lot of potential. Samsung needs to continue to invest in research to expand the insights it could deliver with the limited set of data the ring collects. Given the company’s history with bringing new features to its watches, Health app and the Z series of foldable phones so far, it might just do that. If you’re happy to spend $400 on a low-profile wearable sleep tracker that also logs your walks or runs, the Galaxy Ring will do the job.

If you're going to compare the price to the Oura ring you need to compare the same shape and finish. Selecting the round ring with the matte finish puts the Oura at $450 plus the subscription. Even with the cheapest model, 17 months of a subscription puts it higher than the Galaxy ring. They track the same things so the Galaxy ring comes in at a better value. Samsung also offers trade in credit to upgrade to newer models on pretty much all of their devices. I don't see any option for that on the Oura site.

I have an Oura Ring and really really love it a lot !!! Dump your big bulky annoying, distracting SmartWatch and get a SmartRing - so cool - so minimal - the best !!

Only the 13 fits, that on my ring finger.
I can't keep the size ring with the sensors pointing down.

Comparing the accuracy of the Ring with my watch and phone, the metrics are way off on the ring especially as far as distance and heart rate are concerned.

My question is around other workouts. Is there a way to capture your heart rate and calories burned manually? Like if I do a HIIT workout and want to capture that data. Does the Samsung health app let you start a workout so the ring will pick up the data?

Starting to notice that audio quality has been taking a hit on a few videos or channels. I'm curious if this is because algorithm or data shows that people don't care for audio that much? Or is the channel just popular enough to forgo it

I wonder if there is any real reason to get one if you already have a Galaxy Watch, besides it being more comfortable at night. I haven't seen any reviews that compare the sensor accuracy, and the health app doesn't combine the readings if you're wearing both. So what is the selling point if you already have a watch?

Pre-ordered this item during the promotion period. Size 13 Expected delivery was July 24th, and now its the 26th of July and no updated delivery. Samsung, you dropped the ball on this item.
