Spica

Показать описание
Spica stands out as the most luminous entity within the Virgo constellation. Classified as a binary star, its two stars exhibit a unique proximity, causing them to take an egg-shaped form rather than a spherical one, requiring spectral analysis for differentiation. The primary star is a blue giant and displays variability characteristic of the Beta Cephei type.
Beyond celestial references, Spica also serves as the namesake for this binary Pure Data patch. It comprises of two distinct autonomous subpatches with diverse sound spectra. One subpatch operates at lower frequencies, generating patterns based on Euclidean rhythms (with some extra stochastic deviations). The other operates mostly at mid-high frequencies and relies on the Gendyn algorithm — a Dynamic Stochastic Synthesis algorithm developed by Iannis Xenakis.
Designed for live performances, this patch encourages sound exploration through the utilization of a mobile phone's [orientation vector] and [gravity] sensors. These sensors map their output to the parameters of the Gendyn algorithm, seamlessly integrated through the [else] Pure Data library.
This video is not the best of performances, but illustrates the possibilities of exploring Gendyn by a wireless controller.
