Chris Hemsworth is totally used to skating by on a pretty smile. His fashion sense screams “Surfer boy who accidentally got a real job” on just about every red carpet.

Anya Taylor Joy’s first look reminds me of those 1950’s style barbies and I’m obsessed

Luke, as someone who has sewn garments for 60 years, let me say this. All stripes should match, all checks should match, all plaids should match as much as possible. Always. On every garment. Nothing looks cheaper than plaids that dont match at the seams. Now, bust darts can throw off matching but matching woven designs occurs during the laying out of the master pattern on the fabric before cutting. Its not a haute couture thing, its a thing that should happen all the time. It takes more fabric so you can expect to pay more than $12.99 for your plaid/check/striped items. People buy the cheap mismatched garments so this is on the customer. Demand better, buy better.

Barry Keoghan's set from afar is giving "midlife crisis bathrobe" illusion for some reason

The reason the stripes line up so well on the Gerwig/Margela dress is because the grain of the fabric is the same for top and bottom. The stripes on the reference imagine can never line up because the bodice is cut on the straight grain and the skirt is bias cut. So the skirt stripes are slightly wider where they meet the stripes on the bodice. Having said that, the construction on this dress is pure... chef's kiss. Also Luke, I say it again... you are a national treasure. Love, love, love your intelligent, researched and well thought-out commentary.

A remember someone commenting under a different channel "go girl, give us our daily bread" after seeing Hunter's dress.

You use language beautifully to describe things, and I appreciate your honest reviews. It's like poetry.

I agree Greta has the best look with that simple but precise striped dress that evoked Cannes and daytime summer vibes. After I hoped she went to the beach and had an ice cream cone to complete the look in it's perfect setting.

As someone who has constructed a dress with this type of pinstriping detail, I can attest to how time consuming it is to get those stripes to line up. The number of stick pins alone to keep everything from moving is astronomical and the resulting stab wounds from slip stitching seams in place while working around said pins, I thought I was going to faint from the blood loss. It took me months to complete a gown created with this patterning technique. It was exquisite but NEVER AGAIN! LOL!

I am absolutely obsessed with Greta Gerwig's look. Can we talk about how, when looked at from a distance, they've utilised the stripes to create like an effect? Stunning. Perfect.

That Margiela dress on Greta Gerwig was amazing. And, yes, completely agree that it was made to perfection. How the stripes just lined up was true craftsmanship at work. On the other end look at a Chanel classic flap now and see how the stitching is not aligned… not even at the back pocket.
