Does Anyone Remember What It Is Like to Drive a STOCK Fox Body Mustang? Me Neither #foxbody

I think we can all agree the Fox Body Mustang may be the ultimate automotive blank canvas. Ford made a ton of these cars from 1979-1993 and they became very popular cars to modify with many being turned into race cars because of the solid lightweight design. So many foxes have been heavily modified that it is almost rare to see a stock one but that is exactly what we are taking for a ride in this video! Take a trip down memory lane with Bill and a bone stock Fox Body Mustang!

That's a beautiful car. They are a lot of fun to drive, especially stock. Stock obviously won't handle as well as a modified but they're more of a pleasure cruiser. I'd leave it the way it is now.

I drag raced one of my Fox's totally stock and made incremental changes along the way. It was an AOD car. I'm going from memory here, totally stock best of 15.1 et. 4:10 rear gears, air intake, timing bump and removed the smog pump and Weld Draglite skinnies on the front a best of 14.17. I wanted to get it into the 13's so bad. I remember I couldn't get back to the track that fall. With the cooler air I think it would have hit 13's.

My dream car was a 1988 Fox body Mustang GT 5.0 when I was in high school. Unfortunately I had to settle for an Escort GT which for an 18yr old was amazing!

I'm a one owner 90 GT Ultra Blue w grey-silver skirt, 5 speed, approaching 50K miles, I bought new late 89. Still +/- 90% original, even has original exhaust system w a few aged modifications (no need for Flow Masters...lol) - I plan on keeping it as OEM as possible, except for the inevitable replacement & maintenance parts/repairs that may be needed in the future. I dig it when all age generations give me

I have a near stock 1990 GT convertible, Oxford White (original) w/ black interior, almost 40K miles so far, and I absolutely adore her. Outside of general maintenance, only the center console has been replaced (though we kept the original in case we needed to show her), and though she drove beautifully before it, a subframe connector was installed to help in traversing our curvy, mountainous roads (because convertibles).  Hands-down, it's my favorite driver in our stable.

Beautiful fox, love the white with black interior and those wheels look at home on it.

Why yes, yes I do. The first new car I ever bought was an 89 GT convertible, Bright Regatta Blue Metallic, grey lower accent, white top. Five speed manual of course. Ordered from the factory so I could get exactly what I wanted.

Loved that car and wish I still had it.

But I’m not complaining too much, because a month ago I picked up my factory ordered 23 GT fastback in Grabber Blue Metallic. 😀

Oddball.

That is a nice car there.

My 92 LX Hatchback is stock except for being lowered a bit. Love driving it!

I have a 1988 fox gt that I drove off the show room floor in 1988. It is 90% original. No it's not for sale.

What do ya mean 32 years old?! Heck, the 80's were only 20 years ago and you can't change my mind! Beautiful car and way better than my 90!

Yes I do, way back in late 90s I bought a stock 90 notchback and drove it for 2 years 100% as it came from factory. Honestly, it was not that much different than after I modified it except when I installed the MM full length sub frames car was way better to drive! I installed FMS lowering springs and hated them so put back in stock springs. I had a B303 at some point so that was a major difference but once I learned about cams and went to the Comp or custom cams it was driving nearly like stock again. The other negative mod (if you call it that) was when I upgraded to cat back Flow masters that had some drone on highway.

I’d preserve it. These stock cars are hard to find these days and having this nice of an original example can help the younger crowd understand what the car was about from the beginning. Perspective is priceless. I have a 91 LX AOD that is all original except for Flowmaster 40s. It’s a great car and in great shape and folks seem to appreciate the original nature of it. Just an old guy’s opinion

The feature car wheels are cosmetic, no different, besides white, than any other factory Pony wheel. Not only my 93 white feature car, but my brothers 92 red Summer Edition, both automatics, mine 2.73, his 3.27 seemed to be, not what we expected. After long tubes/quietest Flowmasters, Performance distributors TFI/coil/wires 12 degree timing, underdrive pulleys, windage tray, electric fan, fender well air intake, and all synthetic fluids, it would chirp the tires from a stop. 3.55's helped, spin at a stop. AFR pedestal rocker heads, 1.7 rockers, 4 hole 19 pound injectors, stock cam, Explorer intake 70 mm throttle body, 75 mm Pro M mass air Really woke it up. Tubular K-member/a-arms/ rear control arms, front coil overs keeps it straight and precise controllable. Compared to new 'regular' cars the original Foxbodies are sub par. That is not why I Love mine. Thumbs up, honks, follow me home to talk about, admire, and compliment doesn't bother me at all. (;

I have an 88 stock Convertible, 64, 000 km ( in spain) original. Manual gearbox is a bit chunky but it’s still a real fun drivers car.
