When I bring new cows home I expect them to walk the fence line over and over, then take a nap in the farthest corner. I do like to bribe them with wet corn mixture shaking in a bucket and get them trained to come running when they hear it. That way when they get out because someone who looks like me leaves the gate open, I can bribe them back home.

Appreciate your video. Worked on ranches in MT in the late 70s, early 80s. Once you started talking, memory can flooding back. It’s a lot of work, and will be worth the reward.

That was really informative! I am really enjoying learning more about cows. Your videos have already taught me so much. I really hope we can do a cow in the future. Keep up the great videos!

Had a ranch but everything got burnt from a town fire. Miss my farm but have to start from scratch with animals and ranch machines 😢

You’re going to have a lot of meat, I think you’re going to need more freezers 😉👍🏻🤣. Have a great cool weekend Lucas 🙂🙋🏼‍♂️👍🏻

Lots of good information Lucas! 🤠 Where was your cowboy hat?! This will be very helpful to those just getting into the homestead lifestyle and raising their own beef. Our farm neighbors have cows about 2 properties over and you can hear them sounding off all the time. 🐮🐄

I'm planning on getting some cows for milk. I'm glad I saw this video. I'll be sure to give them some cbd for the first few day. 😅

I know that head finished beef doesn't taste as good but my understanding is that if you finish them with corn it will reverse the omega 3/ omega 6 ratio in the beef.. have you done any research on this?

Calves are a pain feeding bottles twice a day but very well worth the effort

I was surprised to see you raising the beef again this year. Last year when you culled your winter freezer you weren't sure you would because of the cost. Are these boys Angus like the last one, or another breed that's a little more economical?

Random Question for Anyone who can answer it. I'm sorry to put the question here but I really don't know who to ask. I bought a house a couple years ago where the back yard is facing a field where cows are brought through to a much larger field on top of the hill. It looks like the cattle are rotated in different areas of the field. In the last couple of days the cattle have been located right at the fence in my backyard. Which we love. We love seeing them and their calves. But these last couple of days made me realize what a complete idiot I am. Last summer I planted grapes, kiwi and raspberries all along a trellis two feet away from the basic wire fence put up to keep the cows in the field. I just realized that when these plants grow this year along the trellis the cows will likely destroy them. Does anyone have any tips on a budget friendly way to save my plants from the cows? I'm hoping to avoid putting up a complete backyard fence mostly because it will block the view to the beautiful field.

Thank you for the video! How long will you keep these two steers before you take them to the butcher?

Thanks for sharing. How much grain do they eat a month on average?

. I may be obtaining a few acres 10+ for my personal home and im considering raising some livestock either for both breeding and selling or selling directly to butcher. 🥩What do you recommend would be a good starting point for someone in my shoes thats new to the game. Thanks! By the way i live in Texas!

It's been too hot for too long. I like football weather, not sauna weather. Yuck. Anyway, you sound like a pro cattleman. Keep up the great videos!
