The invention of modern electric motors and powerful battery packs has changed the transportation industry once and for all. Companies that specialize in building cars, motorcycles, scooters and bicycles have gained access to a technology that can help them boost performance and provide extra features for the riders.

Although many may thing that cars and buses should be the first vehicles that need to be turned electric, there is a means of transport that may go through this transition faster - it's a bicycle. If you think about it, bicycles are already zero emission vehicles that could be used for commuting around the city and urban areas but having an electric motor or a pedal assist may attract new riders and make cycling fun again, especially for those, who are struggling to pedal for longer periods of time.

Today the only thing that is keeping ebikes from going mainstream is the price. Not everyone is ready to invest in such a novelty gadget. But you don't always have to spend a fortune on a brand new electric bike, because if you already own a decent bicycle, you may use an electric conversion kit and do it yourself. While there are many DIY guides online showing how to put a drivetrain from random components, some companies have actually put together ready-made kits that let you get everything you may need for your conversion from one package.

All of the content in this video is shown for educational and illustrative purposes for those, who are looking for consumer advice. Links to all sources could be found at the end of the video.

These kits range in pricing, have different power outputs from 250 to 1,250 Watts and batteries with different capacities but all of them serve one purpose - help you get your hands on an affordable solution for ebike build.

I got a rear motor kit from eBay. 1500w with switch for 250w when on the road. Inbuilt controller. Programmable bike computer plus cut off brake levers. All for £200. Buttery 52v 14AH at £300. That's a monstrous high power ebike at £500. I used my beloved old MTB.
eBay is great.

Nothing beats Bafang BBSHD kit and a big battery, but yet they seem to not pay youtubers for some reason.

Go to ebay buy a kit for $ 200 or less for a 26 in wheel with a 48 volt 1000 motor. than buy a 48 volt 10 to 12 am rating from $ 300 to $ 400 dollars, use a simple bicycle metal or aluminum frame. The aluminum frame you should use a torque on the hub motor it could damage the frame. Do some assemble and you are good to go.
