Can You Beat Terraria With NOTHING? | Shimmerblock Ep.1

Today I attempted a Terraria challenge made by @ChiefLogan_ unlike anything I've ever tried in my 1,000+ hours of this game.

Is it possible for me to beat Moonlord in a world with nothing but a pool of shimmer? Stay tuned for part 2 to find out.

I've played terraria for over 4000 hours and didn't know about medium core characters respawning with new tools. Neat!

I was curious if this could theoretically be done on a Classic character. And... Probably?...
- You can break down your sword and axe into 2 copper and 1 wood
- Then arrange the 2 copper blocks on the left side of the shimmer island in a way, where a slime could spawn inside, and you could bonk it with your pickaxe until it drops it's loot
-- This can be achieved by putting the 2 copper blocks as follows:
== First one is 1 up and 1 to the right of the left obsidian ground edge, just above the shimmer
== Second one is 2 up and 1 left from the previous
(this setup prevents slimes from getting from the right, to the left)
- With that then you craft 2 platforms out of the 1 wood you acquired

- And then you slowly, slowly, slowly, make your way straight up with the 2 platforms
-> Just high enough, that a slime can spawn below, but low enough that you can see a slime jumping (35th block if you use the measurement tool)
-> Then, you hope that a slime spawns on the left side with some useful items in it
-> Drop down by removing the platform below you (otherwise you have no way back up for another round). You take around 70 fall damage if you land on the upper copper
-> Carefully jump to the left of the slime, and use your 2 platforms to extend the ledge on the left
-> Swing your pickaxe - unless you have a terrible modifier on the pickaxe, this should allow you to kill it
Et Voilà - you can potentially get useful stuff from slimes to get started

So.. But this poses more problems, because we don't have a reasonably supply of wood to craft something like a workbench - how can we get around that?
-> Swiftness potion.. Thrown into the shimmer, it gives you back a cactus - which can be turned into a workbench and chair to get started. From there, you can eventually get a merchant, and buy infinite copper tools, and we're finally at where your run was probably a lot faster

Sorry for the wall of text - I do not recommend doing this. I'm more interested in the theorycrafting aspect, since this is quite fascinating to me. I did kill a singular slime with this setup, and well, i got gel and tiny bit of money. So I can confirm it theoretically works

Edit: Small note - you can also just get the platform climb slightly lower, and just continuously jump instead

Btw, for your Hardmode, I hope you are aware that you can shimmer crafted spider walls into the "infected" spider walls, and create your own spider biome. Then you can get the stylist... very very important to get the stylist so you can have wonderful hair.
