I loved this film, scared the daylights out of my daughter. We both watch this every time it comes on the telly. So weird when I see people trash it, I thought it was one of Tom Cruises best films! And Dakota Fanning was amazing. It was just the son that got on my nerves, played by whoever he was.

0:34. To be honest, when I saw this part i thought that it would be something based on the 50s and not a modern day tale because you rarely see neighborhoods like this anymore. It wasn't until when I saw the actual movie that it turns out I was wrong

My favorite version out of all of the trailers. Thought the movie would have more of this feel.

Normally, I wouldn't bring this up, but this is one time people should know. Legend has it Phil Terrence, showed up to a studio to record some work, and upon completion the producer asked him if he'd scratch some copy so the editors could start working on teaser concepts for an upcoming film. The problem was they had nothing in the way of sound from the film studio and were up against tight deadlines. Luckily, they'd managed to piece a script together from the original book. Apparently, Phil, whom I've never met yet heard described as a Southern Gentlemen, recorded one take and people were in shock - it's what you are hearing in this teaser. It's worth listening to a couple of times. The best part of this is Phil Terrence was either the original or one of the original promo voices for the SciFi channel. He is a master.

The scene in the movie where hundreds of people watch in stunned amazement as the ground splits open and a towering mechanical object rises above them is without a doubt the most definitive proof I've ever seen that when it comes to the crunch, humans are stupid.

Would've liked to see more scenes like this that didn't appear in the movie, you could see the same type of bloody battle with the same explosions, lighting, and effects was going on there that happened with the Marines in the movie itself, before it was all wiped out.

I remember seeing this exact teaser in front of a late showing of National Treasure, and I was only 3 years old, hard to believe I was able to remember being that young to remember seeing something this creepy.
