We reuse supermarket plastic bags to wrap shoes, shampoos, and other stuff.

Also, we reuse plastic bags for garbage, carry things, wrap things.

Rolling clothes still baffles me. I’ve tried it so many times and folding wins Every time.

We pack pur clothes flat covering the entire suitcase bottom, socks and underwear go in between the clothes and the sides of the suitcase, filling some left small spaces. Also roll gifts, speay bottles etc in your clothes or inside socks. Saves tons of space! I feel this is better for a long trip when you carry lot of stuff. Otherwise those organising boxes look cute and easy to access, but I'm not sure they work for my long overseas trips....

I always put books at the bottom and use a separate bag for my shoes, but great tip. I'll be sure to use it. Thanks!

I don’t put my shoes in pairs. Rather each in its bag, that way I can stuff them wherever they’re be lost space otherwise.

I pack exactly like this…and since you did ask, could be long🤣
I put my shoes in the larger bowl covers. They are so cheap, sometimes I will clean them and pop them back into my bag when I get home.
I definitely roll my clothes up super tight but I’ll secure them with a rubber band around the middle of them so they don’t unroll if I need to repack my bags.
I will recheck if I’ve packed too many items for my trip. At the moment I’m on the ‘back end’ of my 9.5 weeks of visiting with family in the US.
In my carry on bag, I packed 2 pants/trousers - both were the Travel Pants by Kathmandu(blue & olive green). They roll up will and don’t crinkle and they have a wicking property to them. 1 pair of funky coloured leggings - something different, bright and bold and 1 pair of exercise type pants(a dirty earthy green), 3 long wool socks, 6 pairs of underwear. Yep - 6! 3 bras - 1 black, 1 beige and a sleep bra…and 1 pair of pjs.
I lay out my pants(all 4)on my bed and then I decided what tops/tee shirts and sweaters will go with every pair of pants and can be carried over to the bold, funky coloured leggings. Thank goodness the orange/mustard tops do and the mustard and grey wool sweater does👍🏼
In total I think I was able to get 3 wool sweaters for all 4 pants, 4 base layers - 2 from Icebreaker and 2 turtle neck cotton long sleeved tops, 1 button down blouse, 2 tee shirts in cotton. 1 cotton blouse I don’t believe I have used yet. I have bought more for myself while for our summer and winter in New Zealand. Might not get everything back into my carry on🤣🤷🏻‍♀️
2 sets of shoes - one of which I wore up on the plane(1 dark blue nearly black, 1 other, a sneaker in demin blue - Converse) I decided to take minimal make-up and personal items - mineral powder with a small brush, blush with a small brush, eye shadow(not sure why I did but I did), eyeliner but I only used that 2-4 times. A toothbrush, small tube of t/paste. A face towel from home that I wet and put into a ziplock bag. Why? The ladies will know why🤷🏻‍♀️…deodrant and hair clips and a couple spare hair ties.
My outer layers 1 Icebreaker wool lined light weight jacket, 2 vests/sleeveless vests - 1 Icebreaker super thin and the other 1 a Columbia vest…and one pair of fingerless merino gloves. I ended up buying some warmer gloves up here…As I was coming up to the US for Christmas, my two stowaway bags were filled with presents for the family and my long stadium jacket which in all honesty - wasn’t needed as much as I thought it would be. I think over the 64-67 days here I used it about 3 times. Everyone travels by car and I may have used it once on a walk when temperatures dropped well below zero with a wind chill factor of -20F🥶 Every other time I did walk out and about, I used my Icebreaker jacket and vest or the Columbia vest.
Beacuse of the age of Covid, I packed a couple spare liners for my face mask. I wore that while waiting at the gate for my flight and on the plane - not for dinner or breakfast. I also bought myself some self warming eye masks from Lula Eye Masks. I would recommend them(this is not a paid for comment)as I woke up without puff itchy eyes or crusty eyes. From Auckland NZ to Chicago, I slept 10 full hours and the eye mask and my face mask stayed on. I’m glad they did as we had a person who coughed on our flight in Premium Economy…
Sorry this is long and I hope this helps. Thanks🙋🏻‍♀️

Don't forget pack your socks and stockings in the shoes that you have packed away.

When I pack before the trip I will clean the bottoms of my shoes. But I will wrap them for the trip back home. I also pack plastic bags for my dirty and wet clothes.

I always roll up full outfits for me and my younger sister (for her especially) so that she knows what outfit to pull out and everything is rolled up in there (shirt, pants, socks, etc.) and everything is automatically matching! 😊👍Changed my travel life

My tips ( this is especially great for camps ):

1: For clothes for camp packing cubes are great but if you’re going to be rushed in mornings roll your DAILY outfits and put them in large zip beads. Then zip it most of the way and remove the air ( sitting on it works great ).

2: if you don’t have hair nets use rubbish bags.

3: PACK TOILETRIES BASED ON ESSENTIALS. Let’s be read because you don’t use your 30 minutes skin routine for a camp or holiday. Pack the bear minimum.

Luv the tips!

I learned to roll clothes years ago to put them in a rucksack. It works great! Dryer sheets to keep your clothes smelling good too. 🙂😁

I travel enough that I invested in a shoe bag. Only pack the lighter pair and wear the heavier. Thx for your great pointers.
