During a fiery final question period ahead of the House of Commons' summer break on Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre exchanged barbs about the state of Canada's economy under a Liberal government.
The leader of the Official Opposition brought up the cost of living (including housing costs and the carbon pricing scheme), saying that two million Canadians are "lined up at food banks" and that "38 per cent more people are homeless" in Canada. Calling Trudeau's economic policies "wackonomics," Poilievre lambasted Trudeau over the affordability crisis, adding Canadians are "living through hell."
"The middle class doesn't exist [anymore]," Poilievre added.
Trudeau responded that Poilievre "only cares about himself." He also added the Conservatives have been against Liberal policies, such as those revolving around dental care and pharmacare.
