Lallo di San Marciano (Pierre Clémenti) moves from Naples to Milan after the death of his tailor father, who left him nothing other than a set of elegant dresses. Lallo is welcomed into the home of his uncle Carlo (Carlo Caprioli), and begins using the dresses as an excuse to get close to several friends of his aunt Lidia (Beba Loncar), one of whom, the beautiful Ida Bernasconi (Claudine Auger), becomes the first of several love partners.

Ennio Morricone was not just an Italian composer, but also an orchestrator, conductor, trumpeter, and pianist who wrote music in a wide range of styles. The main theme, “Scusi, Facciamo l’Amore?” is a lilting piece of lounge jazz for flutes, guitars, and percussion, enlivened by a breathy, near-orgasmic female vocalization that one should not listen to in polite company.
