Its time for Cooler tips and Tricks! He's a fairly orthodox character all things considered (especially compared to his counterpart android 17) but still we do the usual breakdowns, talking about special moves, fringe aspects of the character, generalized things and more!

*edit* HEY IF YOU ARE HERE, THIS GUIDE IS OUT OF DATE! Use the up to date Season 3 video (has the same name) instead! Cooler tips time! As always cover a wide gamut of subjects, from the basics to the blockstring debacle people are talking about and more! (as of time of this posting still stuck at 360p, youtube does that sometimes give it a little bit and then it will be 1080p as usual, its a weird processing thing).

Actually, divekick is a very sub par option out of 5S on block. Not due to any part of the divekick, but because we can actually do so much better.

5S is entirely safe. That means simply pressing 5S and doing nothing will never get punished. So lets go over what your opponent can do.
- Cancel blockstun into reflect. Well, you're not doing anything. Which means reflect will whiff. And that means you can punish it. What can you punish with? Just about anything. You even have enough time to microdash 5M if you're too far away. Basically, if they cancel 5S into reflect, they eat an optimal combo regardless of the situation.
- Cancel blockstun into SD. Well that beats waiting, right? Wrong. 5S gatlings into 2H, and in DBFZ the cancel window includes the entirety of the recovery animation. Which means at any point during 5S's animation, we can easily react to SD's startup with a 2H.
- Do nothing. Here you still have options. If you don't see the reflect come out, you can still gatling into 2H to continue your pressure. If they choose to challenge you, can simply block or even cancel into DP. If you condition them to respect 5S enough however, this means you can stagger back into 2L or microdash 5L on occasion to reset pressure and make them more willing to risk SD/reflect, despite it being the worst options they could choose.

So essentially, 5S being safe on block and able to gatling into 2H completely eliminates its downside of being a basic projectile, as if they choose either of the two options to cancel the blockstun, they eat pavement. Yes, divekick is a means to the same end, but the issue is that it's a much worse means. You get a full combo off reflect baiting or 2H this way, rather than simply a special move into more pressure. Because of this, using 5S during the standard blockstring becomes incredibly powerful for conditioning and baiting, which is insane considering cooler's lack of a fast low makes the bread and butter IAD fuzzy much weaker mixup wise. Cooler becomes much like Broly in this sense. It doesn't matter if his mixup is slow, because he has the natural tools to condition your opponent into making poor choices, and punish them to high heaven for doing so.

I like how Cooler turned out. Big cool guy, big normals, a decent toolbox, defensive options, honest gameplay. I'm okay with him not being the best character in the game.

Still wish he had that beam assist though. My Broly/Cooler/16 team would greatly appreciate that. I will continue to harp on that until ASW decides to stop trying to chain us all to Gokus.

Idk why nobody has mentioned this but coolers grounded lvl 1 has invincibility frames and can beat other supers and even lvl 3s

Something weird about Cooler's level 3. Not sure if acts like this for true assists, but if Android 18 has Android 17 hit Cooler during his counter, Cooler attempts to grab Android 17. Was funny when I had it happen hah.
